I've always wondered why North Dakota and South Dakota didn't just join up and become Dakota. This explains why.
There are two Dakotas because the Republicans won the House and Senate in the elections of 1888.
The States of Montana, New Mexico, "Dakota", and Washington were all expected to be admitted to the Union shortly, with Montana and New Mexico expected to be reliably Democrat, Dakota and Washington Republican.
However, after the Republican victories in 1888, the Democrats were forced to accept the less-favorable deal of Washington, Montana, and then two Dakotas. A situation in which, while the Republicans "got" three states, at least the Democrats "got" one.
Pretty cool video of a Day in the Life of a Japanese Politician. Blown away how accessible she is to the people, literally going to meet with citizens herself to understand their feedback on how their bikes are being damaged by city infrastructure.

This guy has one of the most interesting channels on YouTube, and you don't need to be a Tokyo nerd like myself to enjoy it!

I’m too lazy to find it but Nardwar with Pharrell. is the best one ever. Dude was blown away, just blown away at how well researched it was.
All the hip-hop guys love him. There are so many videos of him with Snoop. It actually seems like they are friends. The one with Kendrick Lamar is really good too.

I watched the one with El-P a little while ago. Not bad. Killer Mike makes an appearance too.

What year is this map from? Before 2009??? Seriously it dosen't look recent by any standard.
Most of the biggest-selling acts of the last decade weren't American, so they wouldn't show up on that map.
According to this site: https://chartmasters.org/2020/01/bes...-of-the-2010s/, Eminem, Bruno Mars, and Taylor Swift are the only acts in the Top-10 best-selling of the 2010s that are American (and all three are on the map for their respective States). The rest of the top-10 are 3 from the UK, 2 from Canada, and one each from Barbados and South Korea.
Other top-selling American acts are either from California (Katy Perry, Maroon 5) or New York (Post Malone, Lady Gaga) and they're not taking down The Eagles or Mariah Carey. The recent country acts are mostly from the Southern States and they're not going to pass the likes of George Strait, Tina Turner, Kanye, or Elvis any time soon.
