Tree roots are a root cause of cycling distress!

I avoided the canal again on the weekend for the return trip to Tuxudo Park from 130th because of the risk of roots!

Maybe the cycling enthusiast who "borrowed" my bike from downtown 2 years ago is engaging in sleepovers there.

Another poster DMed me for some suggestions on quiet roads for riding down South. I made a quick map with some roads around De Winton that I ride all the time. Thought I'd share here if you're looking for some South options. It's mostly rolling hills and flat over there but there are some decently challenging climbs. I threw in some Priddis stuff too if you end up over there.

Green is great/good roads. Orange is the really hilly sections. Red is the crap roads/gravel.

Highwood Cycling Club has good options for rides in the Okotoks area too (though they don't mark up the road quality as nicely as Ktrain does!):

I've only done Road to Nepal but feel like I need to head south and do some exploring this summer!

32 St, 112 St (Nepal) and 226 St (road leading to Nepal) are all single lane "fast" roads but the shoulders are good. The rest are side roads without yellow lines. Quieter. Still some cars and not highway quality asphalt but still good for a road bike.

well the wife and i are spending a week in fernie (my happy place). she has yet to ride either one of her bikes this year. I pulled her mtn bike off the hanger in the garage this morning and based on an initial spin it is running great. Needs some air in the tires and shocks though.........

Anybody care to educate me on suspension seat posts? I’m considering one but have no idea what I’m looking for.

My bike a long tail cargo bike with zero suspension. I don’t want to spend a bundle of money.

Help please

Bumping for new bike day! Figured it was time for an upgrade (and what an upgrade it is!)

Canyon Endurace CF SL 8 with Di2; wheels are Hunt 44/54 carbon aerodynamicists. This beauty is silky smooth and super fast.

Ya it’s Canyon’s take on vibration absorption for long days in the saddle — makes for a super comfortable ride!

Not a road bike guy; however, I can always appreciate a sweet looking rig not matter what discipline.

That seatpost has a coolness factor of 9.87

Lots of gravel still on the shoulders all the way from Bragg out to Powderface area and probably beyond. I can’t recall seeing this much ever in July. Didn’t exactly make for a silky smooth riding experience I’d hoped for. Shoulda brought a gravel bike.

does the seat post really iron out the bumps? I have a bad back back and am starting to experiment with handlebar springs

A decent carbon seatpost at 27.2 diameter is amazing. Throw in a quality seat too.
Just over a year back I put a Red shift stem on and it was a game changer. Fantastic.

https://redshiftsports.com/products/...uspension-stem

That’s all good and helps but I’d recommend you also need to get yourself into a core stretching and strengthening program. Just add 10-15mins after each ride and after a couple weeks you’ll be much happier. Also make sure your saddle height is good too.

^ what an eye lol. It is indeed. (OG black and white model)

As for the seat — I’d say it does but obviously haven’t a/b tested it to get a true comparison. With tubeless tires this is a very comfortable bike! Canyon is direct order though so not the easiest to find a test ride unfortunately (they do have a good return policy though).

Flames0910, I think your Garmin Varia light mount is upside down. The radar is pointing at the ground. Flip the mount and the light will be perpendicular to the ground and let the radar have full view behind you.

I got the element bolt 2 this year (colour). I really like it. I haven't had much reason to use the GPS/map feature very much though.
