I'll always think that he was one of the greatest comedians around. This is so stunning and sad. I couldn't get enough of his videos last night. The number of comedians who loved him and his work is a testament to his skill, and so many seem to be absolutely devasted.
It's amazing that he managed to hide his diagnosis and treatment for so long while still doing the work he loved. Everytime I saw him over the last little while he always looked different, and I guess I now I know why.
Can't add much from the great comments here. I loved his deadpan, dry style. His telling of the story, the sideways glance. You were always on the edge of your seat.

His last time through Calgary he didn't look so great. The person I was with noticed it immediately, and I just shrugged it off.
If he was in continual treatment it would certainly explain his obsession with Red Bull over the past few years. Guy must have been exhausted.

Kinda nice seeing all these posts here, being a Norm fan it somehow felt like you were alone, always felt like he deserved far more success but respect from peers is more valuable.
It felt like that in my circles, too. Growing up he just didn't click with a lot of people I knew, but I thought his delivery was hilarious. He was so sharp.

While its very sad to see him go it is very heart warming to see how much he was loved and appreciated. I have been a big fan of his forever, this hit me hard almost like losing a family member or close friend as he was about my favorite person in all of entertainment. Thanks for everyone sharing his many different hilarious moments over the years, I am glad we will always have ways to watch Norm!

Little known fact but Norm MacDonald was the original voice for death on Family guy before having to recast to Adam corolla after the first few seasons because he had a scheduling conflict for another show

It really speaks volumes how many comedians clearly considered Norm to be one of their all-time favourites. He was just so damn funny and was obviously a really great friend to so many.

That's a great description of Norm as well
If he wasn't your favourite comedian, chances are he was your favourite comedians, favourite comedian

I'm back down the rabbit hole again, listening to Norm in the background while I work. Thank god there is so much material online of his performances. I think in a few years he will be talked about in the way comics talk about Pryor and Carlin. He was that important in my opinion.
