Volkov is only 22 and will likely play on my CPHL roster.
Plus Edmonton added another 3rd.
I feel it's a great deal for one year of Lee.

I think it's quantity over quality, especially with the Wings sending that much cap. But Lee is old and this deal gets the Wings a couple of pieces for the future so I said yes.

Come on now Carolina You were in talks to trade for Lee but weren't willing to give up anything near this much. I'd like to hear your opinion on what's wrong with this trade.

Still not sure why Detroit took this deal over my Nick Ritchie+2nd+ offer, but it's definitely better.

Since Volkov is going to be playing for you, would not the transferred money be 4.0M? Nitpicky, I know. Otherwise, I think that the value is there now.

I wouldn’t have done that, would put me over the cap. Volkov is in the ahl right now so he has tons of flexbilitiy to decide what to do with him

Just ethics, I don't believe in being dishonest in talks. To each their own, you do you though

What was dishonest? I had a deal from NYI that I was going to take so I let you know the deal that was in place. I asked if you wanted to try to top it and you said no.
Then I had what I considered a better offer from Edmonton. You were already out by that point. Do I need to circle back to you to let you know? I'm confused.

Really??? That’s what I’m talking about.
As a new GM and if he tells me an offer, I step back and look at it from his perspective and try and do what’s best for him. I was told about a 2nd and 3rd oud round pick and I suggested the importance of those picks to a rebuilding team ( and actually second round pick could land s 1st). I comment that if I was offered that I would have to accept it
Like I said you do you, my mistake for trying yo help I didn’t realize you were working. No shade on that just s different way of doing things. If you think our message was any different than that
Whatever, my mistake for trying for trying to help
Moved on

I would say that a common mistake new GMs make is quantity over quality deals - so it's good to provide that feedback here. But I also know savemedrzaius likes these prospects a lot and is quite informed by them.
It's not the deal I would make but there's enough there to vote a yes.

I think it’s just that these guys aren’t “big names”
Volkov is young and has a chance at being in the ducks top 6. He put up 8 points in 18 games there which isn’t bad and he should be trending upwards. Abruzzese was one of the best NCAA players as a rookie in that league (I know he was a bit older but still) and the year before was the best player in the USHL. Berard was a solid player on the USA world juniors team that won the whole tournament and still has another year there. Add in 2 3rds, all that for a year of Lee is pretty good imo

I think Detroit did decently well in the deal. I know that cheese going is pretty massive, but they do have that cheese to give.
