Whatever is going on in Flames land is pretty indefensible for anybody on the Flames. I didn't listen to his interview until this morning and it's clear as day he's lost it. Or he knows the heat is coming down hard on him for whatever this is.
Going mega dumpster diving for fw depth is the problem IMO. They just don't fit. And the line deployment by ward is bad at best on most nights.
Tree did a bad job this year surrounding his core forwards with help. Sure the answers are always in the room, but not all of the answers.
At some point this year the house will be evicted.
Gotta say, I didn't expect things to be this bad especially since Johnny , Monny and Lindholm are all doing their parts early on. And with Markström being the MVP, and the defense up until a couple days ago looking so solid.
Yeah, maybe it's the real time for Tree to be feeling some extreme pressure.

Axe needs to fall before he starts trying to save his job.

I was done with him when he re-signed Ward. I knew it would eventually blow up in his face. I'm tired of this "smartest man in the room" bull#### when it comes to coaches.

He has management experience and is currently employed by the Flames.

The team felt that Tre didn't need mentorship anymore. Also, if you look at Burke's resume, he doesn't stay anywhere for very long.

For me if ownership semi-tied Brad's hand by limiting his coaching budget this summer or actually insisting on bringing back Ward for cost reasons then canning Tre's not going to fix things. The next hire will have their hands tied in the same way and similar sub-optimal decisions will be made. However if the coaching decisions were Tre's idea then clear him out, hire a new GM and let them hire their coach and do their own evaluation of talent and get moving on brining this team back to respectability

Treliving re-signing Ward(for 2 YEARS) after last season with actual proven coaches available is just asinine. That alone can be grounds for a termination.

Thought he has been bad for years now, sadly it appears that he is. Will say he is good at drafting but mediocre at RFA contracts (he either signs the same contract as every other GM did with their RFA's that off-season such as with Monahan and Tkachuk or overpays like with Hanifin). He did do well with the Lindholm contract so he gets a mediocre. He is terrible with UFA's and coaching hires and is incapable of making player for player trades, so he burns draft picks to make trades.

That's the worst part imo
Not just giving Ward a contract, but doing it when known better options are available.
It's unforgivable

Yup! They are going to have to spend on important position like GM and coach. No way around that.

Would like to see Treliving and Maloney shown the door, Mike Futa replacing him, and keeping Conroy as AGM.
Get rid of the entire coaching staff and let Boudreau or Gallant chose all their staff, none of this "keep a few guys around" thing we've been doing. Yes, I recognize Conroy fits that, but I think he's the only deserving one.
Go all in and try to pry Eichel out of Buffalo.

My only concern with getting rid of Treliving is I feel like he's getting better at every part of his job other than coaching hires.
Take UFAs - Tanev/Markstrom have worked out better than basically any of his previous signings (eg Brouwer/Neal)
On the trade front I feel like he's stopped burning picks (eg Hamonic/Hamilton) in favour of hockey trades (Lindholm deal).
I think he works hard and is learning. I'd be disappointed if he does turn out to be a wizard somewhere else after the Flames invested 7 years into his development.
Especially if Ward was an ownership decision to pick the cheapest option. In that case firing Treliving doesn't solve the problem at all.

Noah Dobson(Hamonic trade) and Jordan Kyrou(Elliot trade)would slot nicely into this team now.

Coach aside it sure feels like they took a real big step back this year. Our bottom six is a whole lot of "who?" every game. Add me to the list of former Tre fans that think his time has run out.

Get rid of Pascall too. As he is part of the management team, since 2014.
Keep Conroy, as he is “Conroy”.
