I didn't like it and it absolutely felt like filler.

I've liked to loved every other episode though.

I’ve finally got my wife hooked on the show. I’ve been rewatching season 1 with her and there are lots of small hints throughout that go unnoticed. It’s neat to see the throwaway lines that are actual heavy foreshadows.

I totally forgot that Sam and Rebecca have an awkward scene together regarding “plans for this evening”.

Well, all those who called for an after the fact episode were in fact correct. To me it was a meh episode. Still had the laughs and honestly if I was binging this, it would be much necessary after last week's heaviness, but as a standalone it was just okay

I thought there was plenty heaviness in this one as well.

I havent minded the "filler" episodes. I felt like the Christmas episode gave us better insights into Higgins and the players, and this one obviously a greater look at Coach Beard. I liked them both.

Plenty of deep observations and finally fleshing out a peripheral character. I think these types of sidesteps are important in creating a fully realized show.

The one thing I kept expecting was "it was all a dream" sorta thing, since he kept dropping his key, and the moon kept showing up in random places that didn't seem natural, not to mention the constant Thierry Henry insults. However, hearing him say "Shut up Thierry Henry!" over and over made me laugh more than anything else.

I also really enjoyed watching the trio of football fans have a great night. Something cathartic in seeing guys that, let's face it, aren't the winners in society, having a great night.

Now THAT was a filler episode.

A departure from the normal tone of the show as well, I’d say.

I enjoyed it. But I didn’t love it.

Bizarre. Just a plain bizarre episode.

I honestly have no idea what any of it was supposed to mean, or represent, or teach.

The dancing in the church/club was good, but other than that, I see no point in watching any of it again.

Ah....for a filler episode I thought that was great. This show direly needed more Coach Beard.

There were so many little elements of that episode that I really loved.

So after reading several Reddit threads about the show, the episode becomes a bit clearer to me.

Apparently you need to be a movie historian and have some knowledge about Man City and London to fully appreciate the episode and get all of the references.

I’m admittedly not that cultured.

Yeah, saw them posted elsewhere. Insane!

But given that one of the constant themes in the show is that people are a complex and often damaged product of their experiences, I wonder if there's more to Jane than just the psycho girlfriend cliche. She was right about what Beard needed... and it wasn't being with her, it was dancing, because he instantly seemed to get out of his own head once he started, even before seeing her. And she doesn't seem like a particularly empathetic person, so perhaps her understanding of his headspace is because she is as hard on herself as Beard is on himself, and they were both just acting out in their own way. Doesn't mean it's a healthy relationship, but maybe, like the lady in red and her husband, they can find just enough understanding to make it work.

Or maybe she is just the psycho girlfriend cliche.

I think I blew watching this episode by not being in the right mood. I already had a "the storyline will not progress and that's annoying" bias going in, but also watched it in the morning with a decent hangover and found it a slog, unlike the Christmas episode.

Everything was annoying me and felt goofy and filler-like and I just wanted to skip to the next real episode lol. I may rewatch it during the evening one night.

If you need a little more Ted Lasso fix Driven on Netflix has Jason Sudeikis playing a very Lasso-like character (with slightly more serious issues but you can still see Ted in there )

I didn’t enjoy the latest episode. Normally I don’t mind when a show departs from the main arc for an episode but this one was a miss for me. Beard isn’t a character I need to know a whole bunch about.

From Reddit:

Hafiz, a Sufi poet from the 14th century:

The small man Builds cages for everyone He Knows. While the sage, Who has to duck his head When the moon is low, Keeps dropping keys all night long For the Beautiful Rowdy Prisoners

Beard is empowering others while building a cage for himself. He needs someone else to drop a “key” for him to help him out of his relationship with her.

I liked the Coach Beard episode and would probably watch a weird experimental Coach Beard show.

That was an absolute masterclass in balancing humour with a deeply emotional episode. One of the best episodes of the series IMO

And I connected with Dani Rojas on a spiritual level there, dress shoes are absolutely trash
