I feel the flames Centers, other than Monahan, have been more or less useless, especially offensively.
Much more is expected from Backlund, Ryan and Jankowski, and they have failed to deliver for 3 games now.
Hopefully, Mangiapane sparks the second line. However, if that doesn't occur, then for me, it means having a star winger in Tkachuk isn't enough for Backlund to establish a solid 2 line offensively, and he requires another elite guy on the right side. In which case, I again question whether Backlund is suitable to play the role of a 2C on a playoff/contending team in this league. I'm willing to give him a pass, given the whispers of injury going into the season, but he's got to be a lot better.
Don't get me started on Ryan and Jankowski. They have offered little to the team, especially jankowski who's actually been a liability when on the ice for the only role he's really been provided which is the PK.

Two things:
1) it's been 3 games. Randomly pick any 3 games from last year (or any year), and analyse who played well. There will be one or two lines that a re hot, and the other two will have done nothing. Rarely is the whole team going at one. The only difference is that during the first 3 games of the season, there are no other periods to compare against.
2) regarding Backlund, check out the thread I just started (also, I think his injury has probably contributed to the slow start)

Tis the season of October, where everything gets blown out of proportion over a very small sample size.

Re: point 1
Fair point on the sample size. I guess I am generally concerned about our offensive depth beyond the top line. I suppose last game provided flashes from the 2nd line. That being said, it's been 3 games where there has been very little to show from lines 3/4.

Here is the link to Enoch's thread:
Ranking and Discussing the Top 6
Check it out first, and then worry about offensive depth beyond the top line.

316 games and he still has the hockey IQ of a kumquat. Time to move on.

Flames will 100% lose this game. They do not beat Dallas. Take the Stars by the goal and a half.
It's a win-win.

I can never bring myself to bet against my team. Not even when they were crap and were playing a great team.

Someone be sure to tell the flames, Centre ice puck drop means the game has started.

Don't have a lot of hope going into this one.
Dallas seems to have our number.
