White Lotus is amazing. It's the perfect black comedy. I have found myself laughing out loud numerous times.

It's not 'bad' but I find myself already being a tad irritated by the writing. Too many coincidences happening for my liking. For instance, when the youngest Dutton is about to confess to his wife what he did, that trailer just happens to explode not only exactly while they happen to be driving by, but also exactly the same time he just starts to confess.

Then later when he's driving by that van with his boy, gets in a confrontation with those kidnappers, because that's what kidnappers do right? Just barely pull off the road and sit in the wide open while attempting to do whatever it is they were going to do with that girl. Then as he chases after the kidnapper that runs, he puts his kid in the culvert....just happens to be a rattlesnake in the culvert right? And the snake goes after the kid because that's what rattlesnakes do right? No, it's not.

So than at the end of the episode, after they burn and bury the kidnappers bodies, whaddaya know....a surveying crew all of a sudden drives off the road right where that all happened, in the middle of nowhere, and start heading straight for the EXACT spot where the hole was dug? lol

Just too many stupid coincidences so far. Kind of reminding me of Sons of Anarchy, where they always had #### going wrong out of nowhere and the main characters were always putting out constant fires everywhere that kept popping up one after another. It can be entertaining, but I'm not sure I'm in the mood for that type of show to be honest. To me it's lazy writing. You don't need weird unrealistic coincidences to be constantly happening to create a good drama IMO.
First season is not very good but it takes a major uptick in the 2nd and 3rd seasons. If you can stick with it there is a payoff but you have to come to grips with the fact that it's cowboy version of SOA where you check plausibility at the door prior to fully enjoy.

I have no idea why I didn't watch this sooner, but I finally watched the first episode of Chernobyl last night and I just can't wait to see the rest of the series. Just thought that I'd throw that in here, in case anyone else skipped it and hadn't circled around to it yet.

Yeah it's pretty crazy that something like that happened only 35 years ago.

The only negative I could point to for it is rewatchability. I fire up Band of Brothers every year or two, but there's no way I could do that for Chernobyl. Way too depressing, and watching those firefighters die from radiation poisoning is the stuff of nightmares. It should definitely be a staple for every high school history or science class though

Re-watching Dexter right now... first couple episodes are not great but after 4 or 5 and I'm totally hooked again.

To me Chernobyl is in an elite group with Band of Brothers and Watchmen. Crazy 2 of the 3 came out 4 months apart.

Depending how you want to define it, you could maybe include Season 1 of True Detective. While it's technically an anthology I tend to separate it from the other 2 seasons (although S3 was a return to form).

The Night Of and Mare of Easttown flirts with 'elite' status as well.

See on Apple TV. Starts off a little rocky but was hooked by episode 3. New season (2) just started.

Shot beautifully, amazing fight scenes and an interesting story.

Highly recommend

20 years later, its still difficult to watch at times...can't imagine what is like for New Yorkers or people that actually knew people who worked in to world trade center...
I watched this today while working from home. Needless to say I didn't get a ton of work done. Can't believe it's been 20 years already.

The stories and excerpts from the firefighters, paramedics, and survivors are heart wrenching yet they tell an honest story of that day.

I found myself imagining how the firefighters must have felt knowing they may not get out alive, and the poor people who were forced to make the choice to jump from the buildings or burn to death, and the last moments of the people in the airplanes. Very powerful stuff.

Thankfully among all the chaos and sadness there are also some very uplifting and inspiring stories of human resolve and kindness.

Having been diagnosed with PTSD myself from work related incidents it was a tough watch but if can handle its definitely worth watching

I was so engrossed in it I had a tenant text me about a dishwasher that needed to be fixed and all I was thinking is how selfish they were that they cared about this dishwasher with all the trauma in the world happening, then I realized that life and people move on.

You must include Generation Kill in your list.

It gives such a real life look at modern military.

It so is bang on across many fronts.

My wife and I have been watching Detroiters and loving it. If you like the weird, sometimes offensive humour of Tim Robinson it's worth a watch.

+1 for Detroiters, it was really good. Also Corporate is very funny (although there was that really dark episode near the end). It was like a more absurd version of the Office.
