Just pure eye candy. I'm giddy imagining those signature Matrix style fights with modern tech. I'm sure they tried to go cutting edge as they did the first time around.
It does look good. I haven't watched any of the Matrix films in years, and I honestly don't remember much about the sequels. I assume that's supposed to be a younger Morpheus in the new movie? I'm surprised they didn't bring back Lawrence Fishburne.
The Matrix is a fun premise but thin, start exploring it too deeply and you only find answers that bring bigger problems than they can manage. I'm guessing this is either a mindless action movie, or it also struggles finding the right questions to ask, either way I'm not too hopeful that it will be my cup of tea. Ready to be proven wrong.
I rewatched the first film and it is really outstanding. Loved the way they unraveled the truth and introduced Neo to the real world, and his initial resistance to it. Almost no pointless dialogue or humor thrown in just for the sake of it. Just lean and well executed. Great casting, even with Keanu's cardboard acting at the time, oddly it just worked for that role. And of course an outstanding villain that was menacing.
In a similar vein as the original JP where everything clicked and worked brilliantly, and affected the future of cinema from a technical standpoint on top of it.

More than the CGI and cinematography, what I remember most about watching the Matrix for the first time was seeing big name movie stars actually fighting in a believable way. It's the first movie I can think of where the stars actually had to take martial arts training, the first fight between Keanu and Fishburne blew me away when I realized it was actually them and not stunt doubles

I recently lost my dog. I saw that movie trailer started with Tom Hanks and his dog best friend. Can not watch.
Well I was going to say "Ya that dog definitely dies", but given the robots first words I think it'll be him that dies saving the dog in the end, so you might be ok
