Fantastic start. Keen eyed viewers will notice that the main street of their town is the same one used in Interstellar (Fort MacLeod). I wonder what that Waffle House is located in Alberta.
Haven't spotted any other landmarks so far but it'll be harder as they would only be using locations they can mask as 1979.
The Waffle House was a temporary set they built out at CL Ranch which is west of the city off Highway 22, north of Highway 8.
They filmed a bunch of AMC's Hell on Wheels out there too.
I decided to give this show a second chance, and the last the four episodes of season 1 are fantastic. I regret giving up after one or two bad episodes.
Watching the new one now, and the the character Patrick Wilson plays is the same as the the cafe owner/dad/gibbled retired cop from season 1. He even mentions an event in 1979 in episode 9 and 10. Says something like "If you could stack the bodies they'd be three stories high".
And while I was checking the character names I couldnt help but notice:
Wow, I love this show so much. I grew up loving the War of the Worlds musical by Jeff Wayne, and when it started to play in the end it gave me a punch in the nostalgia balls.
I was pumped to see Jeffrey Donovan from Burn Notice as a central character, but damn did he ever turn up the menace in this last episode. In the first 2 episodes I really couldn't help but see his character as Michael from Burn Notice playing an undercover role, but now he's just pure ruthless gangster

I've never seen/heard of the musical but when my family bought its first CD player, the only CD that was mine that I listened to over and over again was one of those knockoff soundtrack albums that had a 3rd party version of this theme. I shouted for joy when I heard it in Fargo.

The meeting between the Gerhardt's and Kansas City took place in that closed down hotel on McKnight & Edmonton trail that the drop-in centre was buying.

My brother bought the vinyl set with the inlays, the art was incredible and the booklet was to follow a long with the story as you listened to it, the images of the martians beam melting the ship, the whole thing was so spooky to a young kid and yeah like you I immediately got goosebumps when the tune started playing at the end.
I have to find this vinyl inlay or just buy the album on ebay, just for this incredible art and story that goes along with it.
