I literally got back from there 40 hours ago, with my wife and 3 year old.
There are no concerns at all.

If your raining a 9 month old whale watching make sure it's in a big boat with a cabin.
Outside of that the resort areas and tourist areas are safe. Your probably safer with a baby becuase I assume you aren't getting loaded off resort.

We were there in January with my 3 year old. Totally fine. We went downtown and wandered around all day and never felt unsafe. Otherwise stuck to the resort.

It is all good until it goes bad. Gas leak at yout hotel, resort without running water for days, or random assaults like the woman from Calgary a couple of years ago. Its Mexico; its safe most of the time and theres far more dangerous places to visit but dont kid yourself that its Canada or the USA. Look at the Calgarian who just died in a Mexican hospital because the blood bank ran out of blood.

I totally understand that there is a certain amount of risk. I appreciate the feedback folks, any advice from those who took youngsters? I am more concerned about needed vaccines for little man, I am survived a drunken tour of this place in my twenties, including some upside down time in Senior Frogs while they dumped ridiculous amounts of booze into me so I'll be fine. Just new to this kid travel thing.

Bring an inflatable pool shade floaty thing for your baby.
And a UV blocking shirt for the baby.

I was going to say the same thing as the poster above. The most dangerous thing will probably be the sun and heat. Take the proper precautions, and I believe you and your LO will be fine.
Have a great vacation!

Just get the same vaccines you would. We went to the travel clinic and got all of the standard ones before we left.
We also stayed at a higher end resort so there would theoretically (at least in our minds) be less risk of all of those other things that could go wrong.

Scariest part of Mexico for me is driving 3 hours to Calgary
Go to Cabo each fall for fishing and it’s very safe. If your worried stay in the resort. Enjoy and have fun

Most major resorts, it's mostly like you're not actually in Mexico. You're in a tourist cocoon. We've gone three times to Mexico, all with very young children, including our youngest when he was 7 months. This was on the Cancun/Riviera Maya side, but I don't know if there's much of a difference.

I've been taking my kids there since they were 1.5 and 3. The oldest is 20 now. Never had a problem in all the years taking them down there.

Make sure you have travel insurance so that you dont have to start a GoFundMe campaign to pay your medical bills should anything happen.
And maybe find the pediatrician of the CPer in the other thread travelling with a sick baby to so you can get antibiotics ahead of time just in case.

Parties?! Groups of 6 or more people are prime terrorism targets with increased chance of terminal disease and risk of someone having an undiagnosed psychotic break. Parties, you guys are nuts.
Edit: Posting from Cancun and don't see anything to be worried about. Tons of kids and babies at our resort. I didn't bring mine, he can't handle his liquor.

We took our first son to San Jose del Cabo when he was about one year old and starting to walk. I don't remember taking any special precautions. We walked to San Jose from the resort, and rented a car to drive up to Todos Santos. He loved playing in the sand, and the kiddie pools.
I think it is the border areas that are most dangerous right now, but resort towns should be quite safe.

Just to comment on the post above that talks about things that "could" go wrong, keep in mind that other countries have travel advisories for Canada as well for things like violent crimes against tourists and international students.
