Is that pool hall in downtown still open? With the yellow/black sign?

Goldstein and Chan's was pretty good. Weird gimmick, though - deli food + Chinese. But if you wanted a pastrami on rye with a side of sweet and sour pork balls, it was the place to go. It was also the first place I saw soft drinks served in mason jars.

Bagels and Buns on 17th Ave, where that Shoppers is now.

That was a bagel shop. Spent many a Saturday/Sunday recovering there with a bagel and coffee.

He probably had to be half cut to stand outside on those cold winter days. I felt bad for him. Seriously A-Channel let him inside.

It's been closed for a while but I drove by the Shamrock Hotel the other day and they're finally knocking it down. The place was sketchy AF towards the end but it's still a little weird to see it go.

I miss Ceili's rooftop patio in the summer, my favourite place to go for drinks after work on a Thursday or Friday. There was something special about sitting up there among the skyscrapers with great city views, having drinks and chatting with friends. There really is nothing else like it.

unrelated to nostalgia thread but for anyone interested in montreal-style bagels I would endorse the appropriately named "montreal bagels" on Elbow Drive and Heritage

I miss the "yard" at the old hospitality inn as well as botneys.

Papa Dan's wayyyy back in the day at market mall.....schooners were 3 dollars......and sailers steamer hot dogs.

Then Mortal coil in Mission....and 4th Street Rose, wildrose.

The old peanuts pub. The fox and firkin on electric Ave as well as some of the other divey pubs down there.

Rock City at the Stampeder Inn.

I miss allot of live music venues that are long gone as well. Frankie and Johnny's, livewire, the shamrock, and many other strewn all over the city.

Montreal Bagels has been operating out of a strip mall on Elbow Drive and Heritage for a while now. Wood fire oven, delicious bagels. Might be the same people?

don't know if they are the same folks as Eau Claire but as you say they have been at the current location since at least 2002 and I think maybe even before

their credentials are legit as they had worked in Montreal prior to coming to Calgary

note : *** cash only
note: bagels are slightly cheaper on Tuesdays
