I would think they would have to be unreal stupid to not do early upgrades. Especially with apple selling them at $649 and $749 unlocked direct from apple (these prices are only estimates from apple fanboy forums)
It costs about 400 or less to cancel your plan depending on what options and the contract you signed is. Rumor has it they will run at $199 and $299 on contract. Rogers will not want users to jump ship to other carriers just to get the phone at a discounted price.
The way I see it is they will not announce early upgrades till late August/early September and then they will allow all accounts over 1 year to upgrade to the iPhone with 3 year refresh commitments on data and voice. They have done this with the last 2 Iphones so it would only make sense they would continue the trend.
But to me buying one unlocked from apple makes the most sense as the resale will be higher as well as the bonus of not extending your contract with evil cellular companies.
