Well, Fitz changed his goalie situation.

Can't say he improved it, but he changed it.

Kahkonen can be good I think. SJ is absolutely horrible.

I wonder what time Fitz started drinking this morning.

Some weird moves. Team doesn’t look any better.

NJ improved their goaltending for sure. Allen is solid and Kahkonen can be a solid backup.

Maybe a little better than Allen. another chance a change of scenery sparks him.

This isn't as laughable as the Allen trade. this is worth a try IMO

3.65 and .892 isn’t very solid.

“Solid” is doing a lot of work here.

They just acquired the worst goalie on the Sharks to be their starter and the worst goalie on the Canadiens to be their backup.

Allen is about as solid as a wet paper bag.

Kahkonen has the potential to be really good. NJ banking on an Adin Hill situation, while getting him a capable veteran tandem partner in Allen.

Allen acquisition didn't close the door on Markstrom to NJ, but with this trade, I think I would assume Marky to NJ is not happening, even in the offseason.

Based on the reports, I assume Conny/upper management drew the line at Mercer and NJ wasn't willing to meet that price.

Kahkonen is also a free agent after the season. Vanecek had one year left. Devils now have options this summer.

So, who called who's bluff?

Connie didn't budge on the Markstrom price. Punted the deal to the off-season.

Now, your primary off-season buyer just bought from the bargain bin and may no longer be an option.

Edit: Now see the contract status. This looks like a this year only addition and re-evaluate in the off-season.

you can either cough up the assets for an elite goaltender, or you can go dumpster diving and end up with a tandem of Allen/Kahkonen. Good luck with this, Fitz.

Kahkonen is 2 years removed from his last >.900% season, and he’s gonna be tandem with Allen?? Jesus does Fitz hate being employed lol.
