Now, at what point does Wolf get called up with Vladar in the press box? That to me is a valid question, and we may see it later this year after the trade deadline if one of the goalies has not been traded.
Goalies at or around Vladar's level have passed through waivers unclaimed this year. His numbers suck this year and last too so I don't see the allure to claim him and his price tag.

If you can't get a 3rd or 4th rounder for him anyway, does it even really matter if losing him on waivers results is graduating Wolf who is already at or above Vladar's level from what I've seen.

Put in the club that says no one would pick up Vladar on waivers if you really wanted to send him down to the AHL.

Nice dive into Wolf and a few other young goalies with video analysis on what he does well (Atheltic is worth the subscription if you’re a multi-sport person for articles like this).

Main takeaways is that the kid stands on his feet longer allowing him to cover angles and move across more quickly… super athletic. Weakness is his size (obviously) and how with the increased NHL traffic in front of the net compared to the AHL, he’s going to have to adapt to that traffic and changes of direction.

I really hope he pans out as if does, he’s going to be so entertaining to watch.

Might as well bring Wolf up and start a rotation with vladar. See if the pairing is good enough to allow markstom to be shopped in the offseason

I thought Wolf would get more games by now.

Now that we are done trading everyone away I wonder if he gets some home games.

Will they shelter Wolf? Getting lit up might shake his confidence.

Bottom line is they need to make space for Wolf for next year for sure if they still think he can be a number one goalie. I know he has a excelled at every level including the AHL but he definitely hasn't had enough and consistent starts at the NHL level to make that determination in my opinion.

Not sure it could get much worse than that game against SJ....but im not sure he has even recovered from it.

Right now may be the worst time to put him in.

Gotta get those D pairings figured first....and thats gonna take time.

Only 2 call ups left this year, with the state of our defence it will be interesting to see if he's one of them. Could see them keeping him down for yet another AHL playoff run.

Because he's a goalie, they'll just say either Markstrom or Vladar is unable to play and use an emergency call-up for Wolf any time they want him to play. Then they won't need to use one of the 2 regular call-ups.

Agree with Transplant. Tough to put him in behind this blueline. Last time up, he was thoroughly terrible in front of a solid D core. It's ok to lose a game, but his last performance had pucks fluttering in over his head, bad angles, etc.

As pointed out after that game, he has those in the AHL as well. He has games where nothing goes right and games where he’s lights out. When he was sent down after that game he posted a .967 the day after.

I’m fine with waiting until next season but the next step in Wolf’s development is finding a groove in the NHL, which is going to have to mean he stays up for a while and plays games regularly. We can’t be afraid to play him because he got shelled by San Jose.

As a goalie, getting a chance behind a team that’s out, with an openly terrible/inexperienced D, sounds like a dream… it’s pressure less. Wolfs a smart kid I’m sure, he understands the team. Getting lit up due to have a weak ass roster isn’t going to hurt his confidence.

With Wolf, Flames will definitely need to make decision however that doesn't need to happen this season

Next year, Wolf would need to be waived, if I recall correctly.

Goalies have an extra year of waiver exemption so technically they dont HAVE to make a decision. But if I were Wolf I would be pretty annoyed if the situation was the same next season and would likely look for a change of scenery asap

He's also RFA and his agent will likely be pushing for a one way deal. Not sure how they don't give it to him.

One of the goalies will get moved this summer.

He’s not going to be sheltered. The next 2-3 years is going to give him lots of work. It does make sense to rotate him and Vladar as soon as the post season is mathematically impossible.

I’m a fan of seeing him lift a trophy with Wranglers though.
