23 year old pitcher Kyle Johnston is the return.

Jays adding a lot of pitchers on this deadline. Especially if the two PsTBNL from Tampa end up being pitchers as well.

Jays get Kyle Johnston, a RHP who was their #21 prospect according to Baseball America.

Incoming return of some 24 year old AA starter with an ERA of 4.50 and a WHIP over 1.5 predicted, or a Rookie or A ball starter with like 50 career innings.

This is where I have some understanding of why people are so hard on Jays management, they are certainly targeting players in trade differently than the industry consensus. Could work, but could blow up and likely will decide the fate of Atkins. However, given how well their drafting is looking i'm willing to give them the benefit when it comes to their ability to scout.

Logan Allen and Kay basically have the same value I would say so for me the difference in the Bauer deal vs Stroman deal is SWR. if he lands on the top 100 or even winds up a top 50 prospect in 2 years time, as some suggest he could, the difference in the Bauer-Stroman deal isn't huge, especially given that Bauer has much more value IMO.

Johnston has a plus fastball and a plus slider. Could end up a useful bullpen arm down the road.

Great job by Atkins signing two vet relievers who gave a bunch of quality innings and then got flipped for a couple lottery tickets.

Not sure if this should be highlighted in green text...

However, this is exactly the type of move the Jays should be making for older veteran relief pitchers.

Jays are 2, 3 or 4 years away from contending......

Hudson etc won't be around

I would say Bauer is a better pitcher.

Teams value strikeouts more than groundouts and Bauer is 10.6 SO9 vs Stroman's 7.1.

Puig is an interesting piece, obvious tools but a 96 OPS+ doesn't impress me, and he's a rental. Franmil Reyes is a good pick up for the Indians though. Young and can smash home runs with abysmal defense.

Trammell going to the Padres. He was a highly rated guy going into 2019 but has barely been able to hit above .250 in AA and hasn't even touched .300 at any level above rookie ball.

Definitely a win for the Indians. Different from the Stroman trade in that they were looking for immediate help hitting and not pitching.

Seems weird for the Padres to give up Franmil Reyes and Logan Allen for a guy like Trammel. I've heard ideas they were going to have a 40 man roster crunch so it was a 2 for 1 deal for them.

Makes no sense for the Reds. Why are they picking up a guy like Bauer when they are 5 games under .500 and out of the wildcard picture.

Anyways in regards to the Stroman deal I've heard reports of people saying Simeon Woods Richardson would have been a top 10 pick if they did a re-draft in 2018. Time will tell how this deal will turn out.

Not green text at all. These are legitimately good moves that a rebuilding team should be making.

Jays have Pannone in the fold right now because of this same type of move.

Gurriel left the game with an injury. Hopefully not too serious.

I like Drury. He's good with the glove, versatile and has some pop. If he can be a .750~ OPSer he can be a solid piece to have around.

Bo has had an unreal start. Cavan with a double today as well. Give me Cavan, Vlad, Bichette and Gurriel Jr every game please.

Bo with his third hit of the day.

Biagini heading to the Astros. No word on the return, my guess is it won't be much.

Biagini was a Rule 5 pick a few years ago so any sort of return for a guy that cost nothing to acquire is ok with me really. Especially for a team like the Jays that are in full rebuild mode where a guy like Biagini really doesn't have much use.

Sanchez dealt too. Apparently there is more to the Biagini deal as well.
