Wonder if I can find a copy of Windows 7 somewhere still.
You should still be able to install Win 7 with your old license.

Computer had Vista on it originally. I think Win 7 would be better though.

Oh, ya. Vista sux. Might not be worth paying $150 for a win 7 license on that old a system though...

What part do you mean by that? Genuinely curious. I'm probably not utilizing the new features as well as I could be.

As far as my issues go, I still do wonder if a fresh install may clear up some of the bugs I see.

It's a decent system and came with an SSD, so booting was great. Think I will double check the specs. Can't seem to find a Win 7 Home edition for sale though. Any options besides Staples/MemEx/Microsoft to get a license?

I highly, highly recommend a fresh install. Made my PC run so smoothly.

Features I love:

Cortana: Such a great personal assistant, I love it even more than Siri. I run Windows 10 and macOS Sierra on two separate laptops side-by-side (I've hooked the Mac up to a monitor, it's pretty beat up -- wasn't mine originally) and Cortana is far better than Siri for macOS.

Start Menu: I liked the Start Screen in 8.1, but it was horrible on a keyboard-and-mouse system. The new Start Menu is the best of both worlds.

App Store: Huge selection.

Action Centre: Every command laid out in one place.

There's more. Just an awesome OS, IMO.

If your webcam stopped working after the anniversary update, it's due to a significant change plus Microsoft's reluctance to communicate these changes.

Temporary fix at the end of the article.

Not really windows 10 related, but I have a fresh Win7 install that Windows Update is choking on, so went to update IE to 11. IE8 can't download the update for some reason, so I had to download Chrome from IE8, then download IE11 from Chrome. Yay computers..

Ugh, my webcam stopped working half way through my job and I was losing out on profits. Now I'm back in business!

Ya, the purpose was to kick start Windows updates. Which worked. Fun times when a windows update decided to turn on secure boot so it wouldn't boot, too. That was a new one for me.

I've found that installing Silverlight manually and then running Windows Update works after a clean image. Slightly annoying.

Ha, Silverlight was the one update I kept "hiding" that came back. Don't see any need for it...

Well after 15 or so months of hassle free use, Windows 10 latest update decided to cripple my WiFi adapter. 2 hours of troubleshooting, one rollback, and a few driver uninstall/reinstall cycles later, I think I've stabilized things to how they were before this last update. Can't wait until Windows insists I install the update again so I can go through this same song and dance.

Windows 10 did something like that to me when it did an update. It forced an update to the ethernet adapter, which was incompatible and caused it to disconnect after a few minutes of being connected. It was a pain to troubleshoot that.

I am happily back in the Windows 7 sandbox again. Strangely enough, there is some minimal support for the laptop touchscreen in Win 7.

Taking a break from the Doom & Gloom and bashing to share two videos previewing the new Paint App:

Second one is on a twitter page, and I have no idea how to link to it, so just go here.

Has anybody been able to get a dual boot with Windows 10 and a Linux distro? I cannot, for the life of me get the boot menu screen to come up, it flashes but for just a split second. I have fastboot off, legacy BIOS, no idea what else I should be doing. Tried all of the suggestions online with no luck.

Of course, as soon as I ask I get it working. No idea why it wouldn't work before.
