I have no idea if the Flames will win this or not, but I do know that the effort won't be a problem. Even though the wins aren't coming for this team, every game this year is a lot more enjoyable as a fan in my eyes and it's all because of compete level.

They're not very talented, but they work damn hard.

Jordan Kyrou is having a great year - 41 points, 16 goals in 37 games. 16 points in his last 10 games.

But he's not as good as Johnny.

Its interesting to see the Blues with such a great record yet such terrible advanced statistics. Not sure what their secret is. They aren't even getting good goaltending from Binnington (although it looks like their back-up goalie has been great).

This worked last time and I didn't say it before the oilers game ....so here it is.

The Flames are dormant.

I was thinking the same thing.

Special teams appears to be very valuable to the Blues. Like Saturday, if the Flames take penalties it could cost them the game.

Special Teams:
Blues:
PP - 29.3% (2nd) / PK - 84.8% (4th)

Vladar has never played against the Blues. Wonder if this wouldn't play in the Flames favor tonight? Regardless we'll see how it goes for Markstrom. If he plays poorly he might get Columbus next and Vladar gets the Blues after that.

So is Husso the starter now?

I like the Blues roster a lot if the goaltending stabilizes. Great depth

This team is like a box of chocolates. Who knows how this one goes tonight. Doing the same thing every night and expect different results is the definition of insanity

Yeah because the results are the same every game...play like last game and you will get different results. Mostly wins.

Need to start getting wind regularly. Have games in hand, but that means nothing, if you don’t win them.

Some encouraging words from The Score.com:

"The Calgary Flames are playing some of the best hockey you'll see from a team with three wins in 10 games. They rank ninth in the NHL in expected goal share at five-on-five, just ahead of the Colorado Avalanche.

Believe it or not, Calgary looks even better when factoring in special teams. Its xG share of 54.73% ranks seventh - again just ahead of Colorado.

The Flames consistently get better chances than their opponents - they just fail to convert. Meanwhile, seemingly every good look they give up in the defensive zone ends up in the back of the net.

Calgary ranks 28th in shooting percentage during this rough spell, sitting just below the likes of the Montreal Canadiens. Not great!

They've also had .882 goaltending from Jacob Markstrom and Daniel Vladar who, prior to this rough patch, were one of the league's better goaltending tandems.

This is all a long-winded way of saying the Flames are doing things that should lead to drastically better results than they're getting. Unless Elias Lindholm, Andrew Mangiapane, and the team's top "non-stars" magically forgot how to produce offense and Markstrom has suddenly become a bottom-tier goaltender, we should expect the tide to turn sooner than later.

Monday marks a sneaky good spot for that to happen. The Blues are playing their third road game in four nights against a Flames team that's played once since Jan. 18.

St. Louis is quietly struggling to control the run of play at five-on-five (they sit 26th in xGF% over the last 10) and are fresh from allowing an extremely watered-down Vancouver Canucks team to win the xG battle 4.32-1.77.

I think it's fair to assume the Flames can dictate play in this one. Back them to rebound.

Bet: Flames inside regulation (+110)"

I think that this is the worst, dumbest and most over-used cliché on this forum and quite possibly in the entire English language. There. I said it.

Elite special teams. Sometimes it's the only thing that's needed in the regular season.

Thing is, it all changes in the post season and the 5 on 5 play is far more important to winning (although you still need pretty strong special teams in the playoffs too...so I guess it's moot).

Really curious to see how Monahan looks tonight after back to back noticeable games where with some better puck luck he probably scores four times and not two.

Not sure what's going on behind close doors with injury recovery and/or permanent damage but if he's coming on the Flames are a very different team.
