Ya hard to expect teams to give up much for a back up goalie with pedestrian numbers on an expiring contract.

My favourite BSD moment was him celebrating as soon as Johnny went in on an overtime breakaway.

That, and seeing him buy a Pilsner Urquell gift box in a Safeway liquor store. It was a few bottles packaged inside a metal lunchbox. I always thought he had the lunch bucket mentality.

Put me in the camp that thinks the return isn't good enough.

The Leafs are in a bind now that Andersen is shut down for the season and Rittich is one of the best options available. Should have been a second rounder if the Flames are retaining salary.

I think Rittich is going to do really well in Toronto. he's better than his numbers and Toronto will give him more defensive support.

I really have no clue on what planet people thought we could get a second for Ritter. We were gonna likely lose him for nothing and I'm glad we didn't pull a Burke on Cammo crap

Rittich had his ups and downs (more ups, of course), but he's still one of my favorite players. Just a great guy and a Flame through and through. I'll never forget the press conference from last week where he was a bit choked up telling the reporter not to make a story of him regarding the trade deadline and how much he enjoys it here, it wasn't generic trade deadline player speak either, the guy loved this team, the city and the fans. I hope he continues to enjoy a long and successful career.

If you expected a second for a pending ufa backup who has no playoff record that’s on you for expecting too much

then the Leafs wouldn't of traded for Rittich and went with someone else leaving the flames with Rittich. Rittich is 2.90 and .904 (.908 all time) .. which is not bad, but also not great

We got something for an expiring contract for a mostly capable backup goalie, that's not going to get much more than a 3rd round pick any year

When has a backup goalie got a 2nd round pick at the deadline? Other than Berra ( which was a fleecing by flames)

Also the second rounder for Berra was both Colorado overpaying severely, plus the goalie market was a lot busier that year. This year is totally dead in regards to goalies, so you need to get what you can for the asset before he potentially walks for nothing in the summer. A third rounder is a fair return this particular season.

A third is exactly what I expected, so that's fine.

Thank you to Rittich for his great service to the Flames over the years. He seems like a great guy.

Totally agree. No way you are getting a 2nd rounder in this market.

I was hoping for a Berra fleecing but expecting a 4th. I'm happy.
