Not sure why but the stick toss seems to be a turning point. Save for a few games against the Leafs he just hasn't been the same guy.

Sure, but with goalies not all things are equal.
Rittich has played for a good defensive team most of his career. Markstrom played for a bottom feeder up until last season.
Rittich could move on to being a starter, but I don't care for the Flames to wait around and sign him to another contract to find out.

He's best suited to 30-50 games IMO; ideal tandem guy.
BUF or SEA (w/ Jake Allen?) make sense. Could be a few other teams, too. TOR, PHI, COL, BOS, CAR could be in the market for a tandem guy.

Are you calling the Flames a good defensive team?
I mean sure, maybe better than Vancouver...

I assume Hutchinson is playing tonight and Campbell suits up against us tomorrow night? Or will we see Rittich in between the pipes against us assuming he doesn't have to quarantine?

My Leaf fan friends are saying Rittich is starting Tuesday. I don't buy it, but anyone else see that?

The Flames will be a good defensive team under Sutter. Just watch.

Campbell was in the starters net this morning at practice.
Keefe confirmed Rittich would be available tomorrow if needed.

Well probably yes, but that's likely going to be without Rittich.

Calgary has the 8th best xGA record over the last three seasons.
He has a point.
Vancouver 23rd.

He's the same goalie. That's the problem.
Rittich obviously has NHL level skill, but it took a few turns and some more scouting for teams to figure him out. He's a guesser. Poor ability up high on the rush and he overcorrects on recovery due to his athleticism. Loud feet. Poor stick discipline on the five hole.
He never adjusted successfully. No shame in that, very few goalies are able to do so. To get a third round pick on found money is nice.

I'm hoping this is true because it will make for a great storyline and watching the game will be much more interesting.

Eh. I'm not sure I've ever heard anyone outside of Calgary call the Flames defense "good".
We have, at times, had some good defensive players and lines, but IMO at best they've been "among the better mediocre teams".

Now the only thing is what does Rittich feel? Going from being a backup to possibly the taxi squad for the remainder of the season?
He's probably a better option to backup Campbell through over Hutchinson but needs time to get use to a new environment.

Frederik Andersen is injured, so Rittich should be playing

8th is in the top quarter.
Other rankings ...
8th in CA60
10th in SA60
10th in HDA60
Numbers pretty much speak for themselves ... top ten is a solid playoff team and not middling or mediocre.
They are 20th in 5 on 5 save percentage in that time period.

Compared to Vancouver the last few years...that's a very low bar though

They play back to back and have two healthy goalies so it seems likely
shoot high
