God damn they're ARE going to get me to come back to Nate, aren't they? I was finding him pretty irredeemable.

That's the lesson from this show. Nobody is irredeemable.
Okay, well maybe Rupert is irredeemable.

Beard's press conference was great, too. I was kinda hoping they'd toss the equipment kid in at some point.

Something is going to happen with the equipment kid...I'm not sure what...but something.
And yes, Beard's press conference was awesome. Other than Roy Kent, Beard is one of the best characters.
"Forced to go to co-dependency anonymous" is still one of my favourite lines.

Probably funniest line in a long time. This is the only show that catches me off-guard and delivers a genuine laugh to the point that I have to pause it.
That line had me dying...

And lets be honest...that outrageously angry soccer fan? That is accurate.
Just be glad he's not a Millwall fan...

I'm re-watching the episode...
Who writes these wonderful lines? They're brilliant.

I feel like Nate has been re-characterized this season. In S2 he fell into the male toxicity hole all on his own, but now he’s more like just an awkward nerd with a good heart but under the influence of Darth Rupert.
I was surprised he got his dream girl relatively quickly and easily. S2 Nate would have spit and tried a bunch of bar bro pickup lines, get rejected and then vengefully use the restaurant owner’s fandom to get her fired. I can’t pinpoint exactly what caused him to lose the attitude he had previously built up to.

I think it was him bashing Ted in the press, then Ted being Ted that caused him to reflect on what both their lives looked like despite Nate having the success on the pitch.

Was it just me or did it feel like Jade and Rupert had some sort of history beyond just Rupert being a general creep

Yeah, the reason that I haven't bought into Nate's redemption arc is i doesn't seem hard-won. Turning away from that toxicity isn't something you can generally do on your own in a short time with a little bit of introspection... especially when your fortunes kinda justify the feeling of entitlement that got you to that point.
