They sort of did that when they agreed to $29.4 million of dead cap this year and next for Suter and Parise.
Makes it tough to compete.

Still one more year after this one dealing with those buyouts that are costing them 15M a year. 18% of their cap this year. I thought they would try to get through those before expecting to seriously compete. They went as Kaprisov went, so maybe this is trying to appease him?

I'm assuming they felt Evanson probably was the problem here...but I don't see how John Hynes is an upgrade.
Hynes has been an NHL coach for 8 seasons...never won a playoff round, never had a record above .600.
And I'll never understand the Suter buyout. There had to have been a team that would have taken him at $4M if they would have retained $3.5M. He was still a top 4 d-man when he was bought out.
Even Parise...as bad as he was I feel like you could have convinced Lou Lamoriello that he wanted him for 50% retained, but at least that buyout made a little sense.

Tough to perform when you have $14.7mm of dead cap from Parise and Suter buyouts.
They have guys like Middleton, Goligoski, and Jon Merrill filling out the 2nd pairing.

I don't know why Hynes takes this job. He is a good coach and definitely an upgrade on Evanston, but has basically zero chance of success.

Dean Evason was the only reason the Wild weren't a bottom feeder the last three or so years. Flames should bring him on board
