Big NRA conference starting this weekend in Houston: Trump, Abbott, Cruz et al in attendance.
Pity this might slightly dampen festivities.

I used to be outraged over these type of events and they would get me really upset. I have come to the conclusion that America will not change and that America just doesn't give a crap about the situation. Some people will make it a left vs right issue and in some ways, it may be or may not be.
America just does not care about this and they will never get it together. 14 kids died today? Tragic but if 1400 died tomorrow in the same situation, than nobody will actually make any meaningful change in any materially important category.

So sad there's not a lot to say about it anymore...if Sandy Hook wasn't going to change minds, this won't either as things are even more polarized now than they were then...

I guess I've always viewed it as a problem with the right. Isn't it?

Get rid of the laws that prevent gun manufactures from being sued over this ####. If bars can be sued for serving booze and tobacco manufacturers can be sued why not gun makers? #### the politician that benefit from this bull####.

Actually, they should do what they did in California where the GOP quickly enacted strict gun regulations.
Have every minority person go out and buy as many legal guns as possible.
The more guns in the hands of non-white people, the quicker the GOP will support reasonable gun regulations.

Sadly, it will be the same dog and pony show we've seen countless times. The usual outrage and asking for gun control, followed by hysteria from the gun freaks on limiting American freedoms.
Nothing will ever change the American mindset on guns. At this point, have we not all accepted the fact that mass shootings are pretty much synonymous with America as apple pie?

I mean your not wrong in that a lot of the hyper NRA style militia type may be on the right. The right side of the politics may be blocking some of the common sense reforms that could at least slow some of the rot from the US mass shootings.
I look at the USA as having an incredibly violent culture and background and being totally OK with gun crime across the board. Small conservative towns, small liberal towns, large cities on both sides. It's a **** sandwich all around.
The level of gun crime that happens literally by the minute all over America is just nuts. Most countries can't even process it. Forget the deaths, the level of actually shootings, wither they hit their intended target or not is wild. The volume of people who suffer gun shot wounds and life altering injuries just perplexes me.
It just doesn't help solve the actual issues when it's just finger pointing between the political sides as I find the odor comes all over.

Like they say, guns don't kill people. People kill people. Having easy access to guns just means they can kill way more people per incident. But hey, no problems with that, amirite?

It will do the opposite. It will strengthen their resolve to make sure nothing of significance happens to threaten their industry. "Every time one of these events happen, they threaten to take our guns away! Well we aren't going to sit around and let that happen, will we? Will we!?! Click to donate to save your freedumbs." And so on. We've seen this trash before.

On one of my car message boards, the first Texan to reply (and second person to reply) thinks that the teachers packing heat is the solution.
I'm outraged, but numbed to accept that this is part of what America is.
