The official name of the new console is the Nintendo Switch (OLED model), according to a news release from Nintendo.
The new Nintendo Switch will boast a larger, 7-inch screen and an OLED display when it launches on Oct. 8. The standard Switch has a 6.2-inch LCD screen, and outputs a 1080p feed when docked. The new Switch will also feature a wide adjustable stand, a dock with a wired LAN port, 64 GB of internal storage, and “enhanced audio.”
Not more power? Surprising but it is Nintendo afterall. I would think that if it was more powerful then they would be very clear to include it in the announcement.

I wasn’t expecting a huge boost in power or 4K but they could have fixed some of the Switch’s shortcomings, like adding Bluetooth audio and better battery life.
Not a bad refresh that will benefit first time buyers. But there's no reason to replace my current Switch, which I use 90% docked anyway. The white joy cons and dock look sharp, I guess.
Nintendo has confirmed to The Verge that there are no major internal changes to the CPU or memory. “Nintendo Switch (OLED model) does not have a new CPU, or more RAM, from previous Nintendo Switch models,” says a Nintendo spokesperson.
Elsewhere, there’s little else changed over the original device. Nintendo says battery life on this new OLED Switch will be up to nine hours, the same amount as the current Switch. This OLED Switch is slightly longer than the original and also slightly heavier at 0.71 pounds (0.32kg) versus the 0.66-pound (0.29kg) weight of the original Switch.
I want the OLED for sure (heck even the OLED Vita is in more demand than the other versions lol). Too bad you can't just buy the screen portion of the console by itself.
Switch is still selling like crazy. This will allow them to continue to Milk the ecosystem a little longer, while also probably avoiding any concerns with chip shortages by leveraging 90% of the same hardware.
My guess is we could see the Switch 2 about 18 months after this launches in March of 2023. Would be 6 years after the launch of the current Switch.
Is there anything about being able to switch (bad pun) between consoles? My wife and I are playing the switch more and more and might get a second one, but the thought that saved game information only resides in one has prevented us so far.

The more I think about this, the more I am pleased with the lukewarm reception. Strictly for personal reasons. This should make it all the more easy for me to get a hold of one now. OLED all the way!

If anything it will be interesting to see how limited they are.
This is 90% the same set up as the OG Switch, and no difference in the chipset.
Might be part of the strategy to have these readily available if they can just shift production lines to this instead of the OG Switch. With Microsoft and Sony still anticipating chip shortages my guess is they want to take advantage of that.

If you have Nintendo Online it saves to the Cloud and transfers back and forth.
The bigger headache is primary vs. secondary switches for DLC/eShop downloads. The primary switch will always be able to play them all.. the secondary switch, only the account that buys it would be able to play it.

Dying of old age here. I think Silk song was announced half a decade or so ago or maybe longer, Jesus. Do they have one guy working 3 days a month working on it?
