I've thought about this before, not sure if the Islanders would do it but I'd do JG for J Tavares.

We need a 75+ point possession monster of a centre or else we aren't winning anything with this core.

Anyone suggesting we trade a young core piece in the aftermath of a heartbreaking loss needs to take a step back.

I didn't say anything about being heartbroken. The deal would have to bring equal or greater value. Who would you rather have in your line up in this series JG or Nathan Mackinnon? Just an example.

He and Hamilton were noticeably bad in my opinion. They were struggling quite a bit with their breakouts and behind the net with the Ducks forecheck.

If Tavares shows no interest in re-signing, I think they should go hard after him. But of course every team will.

One thing worth playing for in this series:
Win the next game for the homecrowd, then break the damn curse in Anaheim.

As I said, suggesting we trade our top players in the aftermath of a big loss is over-dramatic.
It's a futile hypothetical discussion.

I only mentioned one player. And yes a discussion best had another day.

Haha exactly, why stop at 2? At that point, win game 6 for the crowd and beat the Ducks in Game 7.

It's weird I never felt comfortable with the 4-1 lead. No penalties and they still lose. Well hopefully they aren't swept. Elliot sure can't make the big save.

Honestly, a single Honda Centre win and I could get over a series loss pretty easily, as there would be something to build off of. A sweep provides nothing though and leaves us hardly better off than we started this season.

Elliot's goaltending, if you can call it that, eventually knocked the wind out of this team.
After the first, the Flames continued playing their game and were rewarded for it and immediately took back control of the game.
The second was also garbage. That, combined with the timing of it gave the Ducks an in and new hope for the third period.
The third was a complete stinker of a call by the Official and Toronto. You just knew by the length of time it took, they were going to #### us over on the decision.
We didn't recover from the decision and the knowledge that our goalie was weak.
After the third there seemed an inevitability that unless something was done by the coaching staff, the equaliser was coming.
So why didn't Gulutzan do something and pull a goalie whose head was clearly not in the right place?
It could also have given new energy to the team.
Bad goaltending, bad coaching and whatever you want to say about the officiating completely negated what was otherwise a good disciplined performance by the team.

Flames didn't allow a shot in the first 10 minutes of the 3rd
this idea that they were under siege or something is ridiculous...Ducks weren't even getting any chances
