Janko seemed to power out a little bit towards the end. He didn't see the ice for the last 10 minutes of the game.

I was wondering if he was playing in the third. No reason to play him when you're up by 5 or 6 already.

I'd prefer to see Jankowski play center. When you go off the board to draft a player because of his potential to be a number one center, you would hope that he would actually play that position.

Young player being a young player. His last couple shifts before the benching were a tad lazy, maybe just fatigue.

He's young. And while he is ok in the D zone, he has a lot to learn. He's playing the top line. His center is a strong NCAA player. Better to learn at a good pace, instead of being thrown to the wolves.

After a period of play Wotherspoon has 1 assist on Portlands only goal.
Culkin finishes his game with 1 assist and a +3 in a 4-1 win.

If you are watching the Oil Kings game, keep an eye on Kurtis Lazar. Kid is awesome.
PS. Griffin Reinhart is a weak weak top 10 pick.

Yeah, Lazar really caught my eye during the playoffs last year.
Brossoit is not playing in god-mode like he was in the spring. 2-0 Hitmen.

Broissoit has given up 2 goals on 4 shots. To be fair to him, his defense is brutal.

That's a fair point. As long as he's not glued there forever.

I've been saying that since I saw him play last year here in Kamloops. Overrated

Jon Gilles had a pretty good night behind Jankowski
14 shots and saves in his 40 minutes of play.

I don't think anyone mentioned our Utah Grizzlies guys yet, but...
Martin had an assist.
Wahl had an assist.
Cameron had an assist.
Patterson had no points and was a -1.
and former-Heat player Riley Armstrong had a hat trick.

This is my new favourite thread. I was going to make one in the Flames forum, but this works just as well.
Keep the updates coming, I love hearing how the prospects are doing.

Ryan Culkin getting praises from one of the best NHL defenseman.

Letang sees himself in Culkin
Ranked second in points among QMJHL defensemen, Ryan Culkin has a tremendous season so far with the Remparts. Just yesterday, the 18 years old dazzled on several defensive plays at Centre Robert-Guertin.
For the 18 years old Montrealer, known for his hard work in the gym, everything starts with preparation. That’s how he relates to his mentor - and Summer training partner - Kristopher Letang.
Present in Quebec on Thursday for a charity hockey game, the Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman was full of praises for the #7 of the Remparts. According to him, the Flames’ prospect (fifth round in 2012) has the kind of determination needed to pursue a professional career.
"First, this is a guy who has super good values. This is a guy who is hard at work. I've never seen him loosen in his work. We gave him difficult things to do and he always kept a good attitude. I'm not surprised he has success here in Quebec, "suggested the teammate of Sidney Crosby.
Letang goes further, claiming to see himself in Culkin, a young man with an offensive flair and a similar physic, equally as devoted to his sport.
"When I see a young person like me, who is diligent in training, who is there every day, who does not waste his time, I see a certain part of myself in him. I think it's good, I want to help and try to give them tools ... And he is a good kid! "said the #58 of the Penguins with a smile.
Central part of the best defensive corp in the QMJHL (16 goals allowed before yesterday's game), Culkin does not want to credit himself for his good start to the season, preferring to talk about "the team."
"Now, what we want is to continue to grow and have a good record. The guys are working hard. And we hope it will continue like that! "he said.
