Ramage's skating isn't amazing. He's got good hockey sense and a pretty good shot, but he didn't show a heck of a lot pre-season at even-strength or in the AHL. But he was reportedly quite good in the ECHL playoffs, particularly when used on the PP for Alaska.
But his skating NEEDS to be better for him to challenge for big minutes in Adirondack.

I thought Ramage was pretty good for the first 40 games or so, nothing spectacular but solid. Then it was like he hit a wall.

why does every addy flames lineup i've seen here include gaudreau?
I really don't see him spending much time in the ahl.
burke and co. can talk all they want about him being tiny but his skill set is just too tantalizing to keep off the big club.

What happened was Wotherspoon took off and turned into a beast and O'Brien got sent down. Lafranchise straight up outplayed Ramage. Plus, Breen and Smith weren't going anywhere.
Ramage is a good cat, so I really hope those big minutes in Alaska did him a world of good.

I'm not disagreeing with that either. I just think when he got the minutes he played better

With the veteran contracts that are on the books for this year, and the likelihood of another very poor season in the standings, I think they have an excellent opportunity to let Gaudreau tear up the AHL & form chemistry with our excellent prospects there. It'll be a tough decision for Hartley & Treliving, but I do expect him to spend some time in Addy to start the year.
The kid has been a winner at every level, but the Flames are probably another year away from improvement. May as well let Johnny carry on his winning ways on a very good AHL team near his home. It'll make the transition to the NHL easier and hopefully his confidence continues to grow. Maybe he'll bring some of his winning ways with him too when he finally cracks the NHL lineup.

Absolutely. He did do 'okay' beside Smith. My concern is that Smith carried him a bit. He's a super competitive guy, so I wouldn't be surprised if he came into camp with a chip on his shoulder.

I get the feeling that after Ramage's playing days are over he'll go into coaching or management. I think he's a pretty savvy guy.

All I want is an announcement that the Aces have reupped with Calgary/GF.
Only updates I have right now is Kane Lafranchise signed with Utica.

My understanding is that it was a multi-year deal.

I was looking through the ECHL playoffs stats report and I think I found the most interesting/positive Ramage statistic.
http://cluster.leaguestat.com/downlo...ly-report.html
He took the 5th most shots out of all players in the playoffs with 68. The four players above him were forwards and the next defensemen behind him had 27 shots less.
What this tells me is he was constantly putting his team in a position to score. It's not always about having the prettiest shot, it's about getting it on net and by those shots counting he was in the right position to make clear contact with the goalie.

Here is the presser we got in 2013, I didn't remember seeing a multi-year deal but it might have been announced elsewhere.

Flames AGM Brad Pascall introduces Ryan Huska at today's PC.
Pretty much confirms Pascall will be responsible for the Adirondack Flames.

Huska's intro was covered on the CBS Albany News this evening:

Nothing earth shattering in the announcement or video posted, but it is CBS covering the Baby Flames.

2 exhibition games against Utica :
http://poststar.com/blogs/flames/adi...9bb2963f4.html
Quote:
The Adirondack Flames will be playing two exhibition games the first weekend of October.
Team president Brian Petrovek said that much at a news conference on Monday. He said the games would be officially announced soon.
Calgary assistant general manager Michael Holditch added that fans should keep the Saturday open.
Previously Petrovek said the Vancouver-Calgary rivalry would likely manifest itself in the exhibition games.
All of that together points to two exhibition games against Utica, away on Friday, Oct. 3 and home Oct. 4.

As the 7th D? Or does Wotherspoon make the top 6 over our newly-minted $2.9M free agent?
I like Millions' thought that Wideman gets moved before the season starts more and more.

I still think you're right about Wideman, but Engelland can be a good 13 forward/7th D on the roster while Wotherspoon takes a regular shift

Will Wotherspoon even be back for opening night? We've been hearing 6 months on alot of these shoulder surgeries lately. I am pretty sure I heard Poirier won't be ready, I kind of have TSpoon on the same timeline.
