Will Eichel put up more points? Certainly. Given the choice of who to take into the battle in the playoffs with both in their prime I take Gary Roberts 10 out of 10 times.
Whose Twitter is that? Has to be a someone who posts here.

Probably a stupid question, how could make sure Treliving sees the video. At the very least, he might just get a kick out it at the very least.

not to digress too much, but the Penguins won a pair of cups taking Phil Kessel into battle. Sometimes you have to separate your vision of the playoffs with the reality of the playoffs. Teams need a good mix, sure, but overvaluing traits that don't drive goal differentials seems foolish to me.

Well, many of us pushed for Sutter last summer and in the spring and it came to be.
Hopefully Treliving is aware of the frenzy around this locally. I know he goes on about the importance of shutting one's self off from the outside noise, but you'd hope he knows that this trade is the will of the fanbase.
I hope he honors that by putting in the best offer that ownership is willing to sign off on.
I would rather just not talk to St. Louis at all, is it just me? Roughly 25th ranked prospect pool, are we looking to do Tkachuk a favor for some reason? One day when Tkachuk reaches UFA and has control, he can sign with the Blues if he chooses. Until then. If they or any other team wants him they should blow us out of the water.
I'd make a bet that Tkachuk will be a ufa after next season. Just me but I don't see him signing any contract other than his 1 year qualifying offer then he'll be gone. If that's the case, and it helps you get Eichel, you trade him now.

I have been all in on a potential Eichel pick-up, but any NHL GM who takes his marching orders from the fanbase is flirting with disaster. I want Treliving to acquire Eichel because he is convinced that he can substantially help the team, not because he is persuaded by fan message board noise. If he is, then he should not be in the job in the first place.

What would make you make that bet? The disgruntled ramblings of SOB?

If the fans's desires happen to align with the GM's, that's fine, but I would prefer he make his decisions without any influence from or concern about fans. He's the professional; it's his job; he should know better than any one of us what is best for the team.

Outside of '89 where he was a depth forward, Roberts only had 2 notable playoff performances in his 20 seasons afterwards. They were both with the Leafs, so obviously you know how that went

Crowdsourcing the decisions might be the superior choice.
If by ‘depth forward’ you mean ‘second-line LW who scored 12 points in 22 playoff games and was an intimidating physical presence riding shotgun for Nieuwendyk and Loob’, sure.

Well if he hasn't been listening to the fans, maybe he should start because there hasn't been much success. Whether you agree with getting Eichel or not, i think most agree that he needs to do SOMETHING. There aren't even that many bottom pairing Dmen left to overpay so he'd better hurry up.

Did you watch Gary Roberts play? He was the ultimate power forward. Eichel would have to have a hell of a career to top Roberts.

But back then, that was great but not elite. 17th in the scoring race, one ahead of Vincent Danphousse.
I just think Eichel has way more tools and a much higher ceiling.
Guys, guys, you’re missing the point.
Dion friggen Phaneuf is still one of the five best players this organization has taken in the 1st round this century.
We’re the team who drafted Trevor Kidd over Martin Brodeur.
We wouldn’t know what to do with a 1st round pick anyway, we may as well trade some for a player who’s demonstrably spectacular.

I wonder if he is holding off on a trade that would bring in a top 4 defence man because he doesn’t want to eat up that cap space right now. Maybe that’s the cap space that could be used for Eichel.
