Default *Tech*CELL PHONE*RING TONE* HELP* HELP* HELP*

So when i moved home from Europe i made a decision to get a contract with rogers rather than Telus ( my old company of years) for the simple reason, rogers sold sony erickson cell phones, i always used sony erickson phones and with the mp3 player on it it was so easy to add songs and always have sweet ring tones.......

now i find out that canadian phones DO NOT have that option. songs can simply not added to the phone and set as ring tones. which bites, big time.

I called Rogers and spoke with a guy who reccomended a player (patch type thing) off the sony erickson website, but i had no luck finiding the right one. so ive been dling mp3 converters and doing everything i can to make an mp3 file a ring tone, but with no luck....

DOES ANYONE know a easy step by step process to add files to your phone which in turn can be set as ring tones??

if anyone one does PLEASE pm me some easy step by step directions, if its confusing i would even pay someone to do it on my phone for me.

im tired of searching the net and getting no luck, i figure if anyone can help, the good folks at calgarypuck can.

Thanks

It might depend on the model of phone, some may have a sneaky way to do it.

Or you might just have to unlock the phone. I have a SE phone (m600i) and I can add mp3 ringtones no problem, however it is an unlocked phone.

That's an interesting thread title... Locked phones can restrict your mp3s, bluetooth, etc. I went to unlocked phones two cycles ago and I will never buy a branded one again.

unlocking it won't do anything. you'll have to get it unbranded. got mine done for $15 in calgary.

Same thing; unlocking means removing the phone from being locked to Rogers and making it like it was bought directly from the manufacturer. I've done it with a few different phones to get around the ring tone restrictions put on by Rogers (though never a SE phone so I don't know how easy/hard it is for those ones).

i have a basic Motorola model from Rogers, not unlocked or anything, and i can easily set any MP3 i want as my ringtone. all that was needed was downloading the Motorola phone tools from their website which lets me pick and edit any mp3 into a ringtone. maybe sony has the same thing?

Yeah, I'm trying to figure out how to use WAP to download things on my Bell Muziq with Mobile Browser. At least it realized that the operamini link was intended to be a download, but it still gave me an error message.
