Because there is money to be made. Needs to offer a lot more than just a lobby for Splatoon 2 and MK8 + a retro game download to succeed though. Although if FIFA (18?) does well, that's another tick for viability.

Price seems steep. But this is the most interesting console I've ever seen. It won't have the hype of the Wii but it might restore Nintendo's place in the gaming market.

Walmart US had them up and gone already. Best Buy US still has them up. No other places I've seen so far.
Nintendo? Probably at least near term. Who knows.

I was figuring with 3DS at end of life and Sony set to abandon portable that the Switch could become a good home for RPGs, but holy crap did Nintendo already deliver. Square Enix already has five games announced, Skyrim, XCX2, FE Warriors, new Megaten.

...yeah, I'm gonna go ahead and say I'm a launch buyer of the Switch and that Master Edition of Breath of the Wild.
That was a pretty awful conference, but they hit what they needed to...just sadly they surrounded it with stuff like 1-2 Switch and...ARMS?...woof.
