This is the best list of Flames prospects ... well basically ever.
There are 6 guys that have a high degree of playing 100 NHL games....without a drastic improvement in their development trajectory.
Highest risk with the highest reward would be Wolf.
The 5 skaters would be shocking if they topped out at the Bennett/Kylington level.
I expect Bingo to come back with some sort of sanity/enthusiasm check that not all the prospects will play out to the up side, but by the time the Gaudreau/Monahan contracts are done these 5 guys should be in place.
2017 says hi. Included that year:
Andersson
Valimaki
Dube
Mangiapane
Kylington
Fox
Kulak
Jankowski
Hathaway
Rittich
who have all made it to the NHL, and still a few more guys who might

I have Wolf in the last of the top tier Flames prospects.
My top two tiers being:
______
Zary
Valimaki
Wolf
--------
Pelletier
Pettersen
Mackey
Poirier
--------
I would group them this way:
Valimaki
--------------
Zary
Pelletier
--------------
Mackey
Wolf
Pettersen
Poirier
and I agree with those that say Phillips should be in that 3rd group as well
I feel like people are sleeping zavgorodny a bit. He deserves to be in the top tier of these players as well, but this round my vote did go to Mackey.
I hope you are right. But I have a bias against QMJHL point production compared to the other leagues. I know the discrepancy is small regarding his NHLe (44 OHL, 41 WHL, 39 QMJHL) but this still factors into my evaluation of Q players. I think he is a great prospect though.

I think his short stint in the KHL this year could help to offset some of your existing scepticism.

It has to give some credit to the flames that I can interchange about 10 players who all have a chance at being nhl players. I give more Creedence to AHL guys as they have proven more. Philips, Gawdin. But we now seem to have an upper echelon that could include Pelletier, Zary and Valimaki. Wolff who I like as well I would include, this kid seems like a gamer.
However I have high hopes for zavgorodiny as well as as Pettersen never mind the picks from round 2 down this year that I know a little about. It’s been one titanic ChuckoFata turn around for our drafting to be sure.
Mackey has the much better chance of being an NHL regular, but I still went with Wolf. Mackey already being 24 and is unlikely to be much more than a bottom pairing D-man.
I didn't like Gilllies too much as a prospect - even before his hip injury, I didn't really like his style. I much prefer Parsons and Wolf.
With that being said, I am picking Mackey here. Top 4 defencemen with a high floor.
I think Parsons/Wolf will go one after the other for me, as I have them both really close - with Parsons coming ahead (which seems to be going against the grain), but there are a couple of other prospects that I am picking ahead of them, because, you know.. goalies..
Pretty exciting group, just a bunch of guys I keep going back and forth with still. Man I wish the young stars tournament was still on. Kudos to the scouting staff.
Wolf. All you should want in a prospect ranking is who is playing their best at any given moment and if their best is better than anyone else's. Thats literally all you can hope for.
So why make up super lame excuses to not vote for the 2nd best player statistically speaking in the organization?
Stop trying to be the smartest looking person in the room and just let the wolf in. Kids done nothing but earn it.

I agree. The argument that until the Flames develop a goaltender they are not voting for one is on the Flames...not the player. This is a prospect ranking not a Flames development program ranking. I could say that until the Flames develop a Norris caliber offensive defenseman like Karlsson I am not going to vote Poirier, which seems a bit silly to me.

Well, that is not my argument. Wolf is still easily in my top-six or -seven, but I just don't have him as highly ranked as some of the other players; it has nothing to do with the team's track-record with goalies.
I am still sceptical about Wolf's size, and I am also hesitant about the true value of his impressive numbers behind that team in Everett.
People have all sorts of different approaches to this list every year. There is no right or wrong way to rank prospects in these polls.

Fair enough and I respect your reasoning. I understand that there are varying approaches to individuals rankings. I have a very fluid approach that bases each player on their own merit, I just don't see how a teams player development program (one that has not even really started with the organization), should be a significant factor in this endeavor. Each to their own.
