Surprised they didn’t decide to host the outdoor game in Edmonton. You know, cuz of their mountainous view and all

Also, the altitude is 5600 feet.
This game was played at 14,000 feet:

If left untreated, it can deteriorate into high-altitude pulmonary edema in which fluid accumulates in the lungs. HAPE affects between 0.5 and 4.5 percent of adults at such altitudes. Without treatment, the mortality rate can approach 50 percent.

Don’t be silly. They can’t play hockey on water. Well, I suppose McSaviour can.

I got married at Lake Louise. That backdrop is spectacular for big events. This would be a major selling point on TV. I'm betting that the average non-hockey fan would be talking about this for a week or two after (which is pretty good for the NHL). Good exposure for the game, and a great marketing idea.
I support this decision.
Now, the hard part is getting Parks Canada to sign-off on it.

I'm not sure that they could play on the lake. Have you ever tried skating on that thing? I can't imagine what it would take to actually put an NHL calibre, regulation rink on that surface.

Charleston, has a nice, covered outdoor rink. That’s even been used to host out of town hockey tourneys. They could also build a rink at the base, with some creative logistics. That could detrimentally affect the skier experience, though.
Realistically, they’ll host it on the lake itself. The views are world class, from all angles; Chateau, the thumb, Whyte, Fairview etc. Heck, I’m sure they’ll have permit for drones and will be able to pan to the resort itself.
This would be truly epic, as a television viewer.
Re; Capacity
I’ve heard reservations are way down, as the premium destination hotels aren’t receiving their normal international guests.

Great idea. Why not take advantage of thefan-free circumstances to do something spectacular?

Quite easily. Zamboni it. Just like they do on the city’s suburban community lake-rinks.

The other cool part is it would almost for sure involve the Flames. Calgary vs. Toronto I'd guess.

A hockey games in the Rockies? A stone's throw from Rogers Place? Would have to be an Oilers game if it's right in their back yard.

Watch it be a Toronto/Montréal game, lol.
For what it’s worth, there’s never been an outdoor BoA.

I have no doubt our lords and saviours at Parcs du Canada would veto this.

I don’t. I’ve had friends run productions with drones in the park. Permitting isn’t easy though.

I wouldn't be surprised to see that, but I think it would be a big missed opportunity to not start the season off with an outdoor BoA in the Rockies
