What top line RW could the Flames get for Monahan?

Honestly don't see the obsession with Anderson. A nice piece to have at the right price, but not a guy you should be willing to pay such a huge premium for.

I'd deal Monahan before Gaudreau personally.
This scenario probably needed to happen at start of summer but how about:
Monahan for picks.
These picks, plus more I imagine, and Hanifin for Toews (maybe they retain $1 million).
Trade proposals not really my thing but is this ridiculous? Asking Chicago to retain more than a $1 million or so is likely fantasy.
I would drool over a first line of Toews, Lindholm and Gaudreau.

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but Josh Anderson is ####ing garbage.
A pure coat tail rider got $2M more than we’re paying Markstrom.
4 points in 26 games and Montreal gave him $38M. It’s self-ownage of the highest caliber.
Thank Christ we didn’t trade Sean Monahan, who has been AS PRODUCTIVE AS IGGY to start his career, for a guy whose offensive ability seemed to depart with Artemi Panarin.
Probably unrelated.

I’d swap Monahan and Andersson before I’d trade Monahan for Andersen or Anderson. Thank god that didn’t happen, and I don’t even like Monahan.

Man those 960 guys have some terrible takes. I can never listen to them anymore. If I ever try listening to a segment I can never make it all the way through.

Pinder, Boomer, & Steinberg have all had some terrible trade ideas this offseason.
Terrifies me that they might be hearing some of these as inside rumors from the team, and that we are destined to make a horrible trade in the next 12 months.

It is truly astounding how bad their takes are. How can you follow, and discuss, a team every day - as part of your job - and be as out in left field as those guys are?

Those guys aren't paid to be right. They're paid to fill up a whole lot of airtime.

Tim and Sid are horrifying with their takes on the Flames lately. Like on another planet. They discussed the heating rumours of a Gaudreau trade and Sid goes on a tangent about how it's the right move for Calgary because although he's really good he makes too much money and they need to free up cap space.
Like WTF? There's various reasons why Gaudreau is rumoured, including his LOW cap hit being attractive to another team that's trying to fit one more star in. Like how is that your take? Did you even spend two minutes researching to at least pretend you know anything about the west teams?

Josh Anderson had 1 goal last season. Imagine if Monahan only scored 1 goal. I'm not sure he would even still be alive from the backlash LOL

Flames fans should think of it this way... Montreal just traded real assets, and gave $5.5M for seven years, for a player that brings all of the intangibles that Sam Bennett brings, only at a much lower ceiling and with an injury history.

I can see several reasons why the Flames pulled out of the deal but it was said that Andersen was signing a 7 year deal or a 1 year deal to go to UFA. I don’t see the Flames making that commitment.

Then you offer him $21M, not $38M.
Imagine letting Josh Anderson punk you in a negotiation like that. 4 points in 26 games demands 7 years or else he takes a 1-year to UFA.
Get to walking.

If that was true, Columbus are the idiots for not somehow getting that done. Dubios Monahan as a 1-2 down the middle.
If that were to happen I could see the savings from Korpisalo to Markstrom would have been used to go after Hall.
Gaudreau - Lindholm - Hall
Tkachuk - Backlund - Anderson
I wouldn’t mind that as a top six but that Anderson contract is ridiculous.

I think this is a good theory and likely outcome. I am much happier with Markstrom than Korpisalo and would have hated that contract for Andersen but that is an improved top 6

You are onto something here.
But with what they ended up getting for Anderson, I could see why they’d say no to Anderson and Korpisalo for Monahan.
