That would be fine if the presumption of innocence was a thing in the court of public opinion. Simply being named in something like this is itself damaging, whether or not you are actually implicated. It's an awkward balancing act of getting justice for victims while protecting the rights of the accused.

Once they're found guilty, whole different story.
Look....normally I would agree with you.

However in this instance...I dont know what to think. Were there other Leisure activities offered on Jeffrey Epstein's clandestine sex-island?

Water-skiing? Kite Surfing? Upright Paddle Boarding? Kayaking?

I dont know. But I'd wager that one went to Jeffery Epstein's Clandestine Sex-Island with a purpose in mind. And it probably wasnt snorkelling.

I didnt mean to imply a sexual euphemism to snorkelling, but its there now and do with it what you will.

If this is just 'Guilt by Association' I think they kind of have to take it. I'm sorry, I know thats not how our legal system works which is probably why this all took place on an island in the Bahamas. Different laws. But somehow I think the excuse of:

"I went to Jeff's Illegal non-extraditional Sex Island because they have the best Mai-Tais on the planet!!"

Probably isnt going to hold much water.

I share your reservations, totally agree.

But at the same time if we really want the pricks responsible to be brought to justice, giving them a potential out on a technicality is the last thing we want.

Read an interesting article on CBC regarding the RCMP and some poor behaviour that seems like it may be a big issue through the system. Thought this thread was a good fit for it. I hope people step up if they were impacted by something like this but realize that sometimes it is easier said than done.

I subscribe to the theory that the heart of Epsteins operation was acquiring blackmail for use by himself and whatever intelligence agencies had their hooks in him. I would think the vast majority of people who went to the island were either being groomed for blackmail or actively being blackmailed. Why go through all the trouble of creating blackmail island and bringing influential people there only to not try and blackmail them?

There are accounts of Epstein being a farce of a hedge fund manager and that he must have made his money largely through his blackmail operation. If Epstein was able to acquire billions of dollars, high status, a private island, protection from the legal system and media scrutiny for decades through his operation, then I can't see a guy like that leaving money on the table. How hard is it to feed Chris Tucker viagra and mdma and get him to bang a 15 year old on hidden camera?

There hasn't been any rats on the flight log either, everyone's keeping their mouths shut or playing dumb.

At this point, it's to Scientology's credit that they haven't enabled the mass rape of children.

Good show, Scientology.

Watching Shia's career die in the upcoming meme storm is going to be fun.

I thought his career died years ago when he went off the rails.

Peter Nygard has been arrested and is the subject of a 57 woman class action suit alleging rape and sexual assault in Winnipeg, the US and the Bahamas.

Really surprised it took that long. Hasn’t he been in the public eye for decades for that? I thought there was an expose done in the early 2000s?

From the Nygard article.
Quote:
Sources confirm fashion mogul was arrested Monday night and is being held at Winnipeg Remand Centre
Guys like Epstein, Nygard, Weinstein, Cosby, etc. must lose their minds being locked up at their advanced ages, knowing that they will never taste freedom again. Nygard is 79. I'm sure he didn't see it ending like this for him.
You earned it Pete!
