John Oliver will be bringing his biting satire to HBO for at least three more years.
The premium cabler has announced it has renewed “Last Week Tonight With John Oliver” for three more seasons, taking the British comedian’s run through 10 seasons and through the year 2023.

Oliver last night saying that "we lost" in regards to the court was sobering, and I'm Canadian. I can't imagine how it feels to be a liberal minded person in America right now.

3 weeks in and I'm entirely disappointed. The main stories have been good, as in they are worth covering...but damn has the show lost humour. The jokes are so flat.
It's never been this bad...ever. What happened? Is Covid preventing writers to collaborate properly?

Who knows? There might have been some writer turnover. I get the sense that John is tired of the Covid format and likely wants back to the pre-covid days. Seems like some fatigue has set in which might be impacting performance.

I was luck enough to catch John Oliver Live in October before the pandemic hit, they really stressed the importance of being super loud and providing feedback as Oliver feeds off the energy. Then before the show he comes out for some Q&A and he again stressed how he feeds off the audience energy, so I can only imagine how hard it is to tell jokes to a room with like 6 people in it.
Still the highlight of our trip to New York though, it was a super neat experience
