The Sabres almost had more points during the lockout year than they did the next two full seasons.

And they still couldn’t get the first overall away from the tank masters

My only disappointment is that the media and fans don't treat the Oilers and their fans enough like the NFL treats the Browns.

If average is the bar the Oilers can dream of, in the Katz era:
Flames: 5/11
Oilers: 1/11
Both not great, but only one of those Alberta squads look to be able to do much to improve that stat.

Oilers would have to have 16 consecutive 100 points a seasons to raise there average to that 88.3 league average for the Katz tenure up in dumpsville.

Not only that, but they were among the worst teams in the league for the 2 years prior to this chart (pre-Katz). And the 3 teams right above them (OTT, COL, BUF) were all quite a bit better than them in those 2 years. So the gap of crap actually widens.

Almost the whole list is tight in division, then you get to the bottom and the Oilers are 5 points back of 30th place Buffalo. Crazy.

This screams to me of an owner who feels underappreciated and directed the comms team to write something up.

All of it is a giant facepalm.

According to Oiler fans Bouchard had a hell of a game tonight. The guy was facing a bunch of hacks. If you put him in front of a 1st line NHL team the guy would fold like a cheap tent. He's still not ready for the big league. That being said I fully expect him to be in the starting line up come October. Oilers gonna.Oil.

Wow, this really puts to light their ineptitude (and length of sustained ineptitude) better than anything else out there.

Their media cherry picks 2017 continually, trying to paint this impression that it somehow negated the many awful years sandwiching that season, but you look at the larger scope and lay it out on paper and it becomes clear that they're not just one of the worst clubs of this era, but the worst by a mile.

They're truly the class of the No Good, for over a decade. How their fans and media can talk otherwise these days just goes to show how far into denial and fantasy they have slid in order to keep a positive spin on what has been a dumpster fire of epic proportions.

He was a minus 3 over two games. His advanced stats were nothing to marvel at either. I wonder if Youtube is spelled Eewwtub in Edmonton and just makes the games look good.

Of course they did. They're blinded to the issues with this kid. He's might turn out ok, but his skating and decision making on his own side of the ice point to a 3rd pairing power play specialist type that you don't want on the ice with two minutes left while nursing a lead.

I'd like to see him paired up with Nurse in the future so we can yell Blundertwins activate.

yeah, i think he has a couple of decent plays and had that pinball goal...

but hardly 'a hell of a game'... barely noticed him tonight and as you say, if you aren't dominating a bunch of rookies, that's not a great sign.

kid might turn out to be ok eventually, but i'd dial down on the expectations based on what i've seen.

I totally see him (via agent) demanding to get out of Dodge. The whole "you get to play with Connor" pitch isn't working anymore.

Avocado coloured stove? LOL. That's got to be early 80s vintage. Does it still work?
