Ovechkin: Will never win, too selfish

Kane?

He won a Stanley Cup in his third season at the age of 21.

A young Chicago team understandably missed the playoffs in his first season, went to the conference finals in his second season and won the SC in his third season.

Well, that would make a difference for sure.

But the other guys on the list have all won Stanley cups, I think he meant Patrick.

No, I meant Patrick Kane. He took a lot of flack his first two seasons, “not hard to play against” etc, typical North American criticism towards skilled players. Of course all that changed when he won.

Like with all players that haven’t won. They’re not winners.

Monahan is über-clutch. OT game, Monahan to the rescue. Gaudreau, well who knows, I have my doubts, but he is as skilled as Kane.

Every SC team is different. There is no standard format. Some win with stars, some win with defence some with offence, some have a hot goalie as some have fourth liners that turn in to gods.

Patrick Kane was criticized for 2 years for playing soft and then he won a cup...

This arguement reads to me like :

"Other players have sucked but then had success, our players have sucked even longer and never had success so be patient!"

Who pissed in your tea this morning?

Schenn and O’reilly are the latest examples of “can’t with with this guy” - suddenly they are now the winningest winners in the winiverse. Fans and media are fickle beasts. You can’t tell a winner before they’ve won.

If you don’t get the concept I can’t help you.

That simply isn't true.

Chicago went to the conference finals in his second season, losing to a very good Detroit team.

They beat Calgary and Vancouver in the first two rounds.

C’mon Kane had a bad rep, really bad. He had a misdemeanour charge in 2009 and was questioned for late night antics etc. He was even criticised for not being good enough 5 v 5 by Willie Mitchell (and a scored a hat trick to shut his pie).

But then he won. And won. And won. And everyone was quiet.

I doubt JG or Monahan will come close to his career, but they take far too much flack on this site.

He was 20 years old for Pete’s sake. Johnny was still in college at that age. You are really stretching to make an apple look like a watermelon.

You’re nitpicking.

Pick the other examples then if you disagree.
