He's an upgrade on every dman we have other than Gio, Brodie, Andersson and Hanifin. As much as I hate to say it because I love the guy, he's better than Kylington too

Giving up a 4th to go from Davidson to Forbort sounds about right.

No it doesn’t. Neither guy is good enough to be in our lineup
Giving a fourth to improve the #8 or #9 guy on your depth chart is classic Brad.
Kylington is better than both. When Gio is back Forbort won’t even play. Completely pointless

the only thing he has on Kylington is size and salary
Brad paid a premium to improve the press box

I would like to see who else is near the top of these lists. To me, these are stats that will necessarily be high because the Kings spend most of the game in their own zone, which results in more DZ events for somebody like Forbort.

Luke Schenn. He's marginally better than Forbort.

Not even close, Schenn is awful. Substantially worse than Forbert in literally every category.

It's pretty clear to me those complaining about Forbort either have no idea who he is, or are one of those people that assume anyone on a bad team sucks.

The Kings are a 53.99% CF team under McLellan.

It's a lot of the usual suspects complaining. I swear we could have traded a 1st for Crosby and we'd have the usual posters whining about how that pick could have been even better and that Crosby is over 30

If you think Forbort is a #8 or 9 guy, like Davidson is, then I am going to guess that you don't know who Forbort is.

I've always wondered how these Future Considerations trades work. Do they ever have to be closed off eventually?
Just seems weird to me. I'm picturing Treliving calling up SJ a year from now to decide on what the terms are and it seems SJ would just offer up their least valued asset, because they've already got the player and I can't imagine the NHL would overturn a trade a year later if they can't come to an agreement?
I guess it probably only works with players that really have no value at all, but still I wonder about these things.

"Future considerations" has no long-term ramifications, really. It's just the hockey equivalent of doing a solid.
If anything, this should put to bed the weird speculation from earlier that Treliving has somehow alienated his fellow GMs into all consciously deciding against trading with him

Surprised nobody has made the joke yet!
I'm having trouble finding stats on this Future Considerations guy. Is he any good?

I swear I've seen these type of deals closed off in the future though.

They sometimes do. When the Flames acquired Keith Seabrook for future considerations from Washington in 2009, they eventually gave the Caps a 2012 7th round pick.
Really depends on what was discussed by the GMs.

Treliving on 960 on why they moved Davidson:
They didn't waive him yesterday because they didn't know they were going to acquire 2 d-men today. And because he can't be sent to the AHL, they sent him to SJ so that he could play instead of sit in the press box behind so many bodies.
