That would potentially be the easiest line to run over in the NHL.
Please no.

Nah, Philips strip more than, say, a Robertson or a Torx.

Robertson is.
Phillips is only good for people who people who habitually over-tighten things.

Yes, it's an opinion. But it is so clearly apparent, that it is pretty much a fact.

Would be awesome, if there was any way we could reasonably afford and acquire him.
IMO, Toffoli is acquirable, (probably) at a doable price, which is why I have been on that train. But if you can make Krieder work, get on it!

Sure would be great if Phillips could turn out like Martin St. Louis. The one that got away...

Phillips on the Flames doesn't make sense until Gaudreau is traded away. Your team can only be so small, and Calgary is already too small and easy to play against. Move Gaudreau and you open up a slot for a small skilled player like Phillips.

*correction. Screws that everyone who has ever turned a screw prefers and knows are the best.

Trade for Hall and bring up Phillips
Gaudreau - Monahan - Tkachuk
Hall - Lindholm - Phillips
Pretty amazing top 6 there IMO; also don’t agree with the sentiment that we can’t have Phillips on the same team as Gaudreau especially with players like Tkachuk, Bennett and Lucic patrolling the bottom 6. When Czarnik was starting to click just before he got injured you really started to see the benefits of having two top 6 lines that have a small, shifty, skilled player on them and I really believe Phillips has high end potential.

Leopard can't change his spots. The first couple years he constantly looked at the ref's to protect him. Now after seeing his last interview between periods it looks like he needs a new attitude or team. I get it that some guys hate doing interviews and having the camera in their face but Johnny's recent interview last game I saw was downright pathetic.

Taking a while to get to 5000

Probably no coincidence that Johnny's Dad is in town as he deals with his struggles. Likely wants/needs that support and advice. I'm sure this will turn into a positive in no time. Maybe even tonight.
Back on topic, Phillips should be brought up slowly and not thrown into top 6 duty.

Salary Cap aside, can we not make every thread a "trade for Hall" thread?

Not solid reasoning to single out Tkachuk who is one of 3 Flames with more than one hit per game.
There are 8 regulars that avoid hitting as though it would instantly cause the team to lose:
Gaudreau, Ryan, Jankowski, Brodie, Kylington, Reider, Frolik and Backlund.
Czarnik also does no hitting but does not qualify as a regular.
The Flames are are once again 31st in the league in hits. This seems to be highly correlated with man-games lost to injury as the Flames are once again near the bottom of the league in games lost to injury.
There are numerous options options for call ups, as the AHL scoring stats indicate, the next call up might go to Lomberg 11 pts in 12 games and 12 hits in his 3 NHL games.
He plays close to that level at the NHL and Jankowski might never get back in the lineup.

It seems more closely correlated to puck possession—the Flames are once again in the top-ten in SAT%. (But maybe a case can also be made for sustaining fewer injuries when having possession of the puck in the offensive zone.) This would make the most sense, since you can only hit players who have the puck.

Unless we dump a soft player (preferably two), then I don't see a spot on the Flames for Phillips.
