On a decent team Neal is either 3rd/4th line or a healthy scratch. I'll take the 3rd round pick, no problem.

I love Tre but it was a stupid trade, a third round pick wow great. Should have gave Neal another season. I’m frustrated

And LUCIC is what? It is time to realize that Tre got schooled, with that said I still love Tre, but man shouldn’t have made that trade

Lucic is a quality person, who contributes in a number of ways. Neal is trouble, and he right now is simply stealing Chiasson’s points, and not doing much else.
This trade is not going to help the Oilers long term. And it’s not going to hurt the Flames. Is Lucic worse than Neal was last year? No.
Just wait. Neal will disappear (heck, this was his first point in November and he hadn’t done much in a few weeks). Look what happened in Vegas.

He wasn't going to play in the top 6, and probably not even in the top 9. He was a healthy scratch in the playoffs. Why hold onto him?
He's going to score a few goals for the Oilers. He's also going to be in the running for one of the worst +/- in the league by the end of the year. That 3rd round pick could be a great player, I wouldn't dismiss it at all.
Neal is bad, Lucic is bad. Let's just see how it shakes out by the end of the year.

Please explain to me how Neal is bad, he had a rough first season with us, but to trade him for an even worse contract to our rivals is just straight up frustrating

It's like you either haven't seen, or are ignoring, the mention that Neal was *so* bad, and such a distraction, he actually *did* have to be traded. He was praying to be traded FFS. Neal and Smitty are gone, and Calgary is a better team for it.

Neal sucks.
Lucic sucks.
Lucic fills a hole on a good team, Neal fills a hole on a #### team.
Are we really going to do this every thread?

Probably unfortunately. It's just like the constant "Kadri would sure look good on the second line" posts every time the team is having trouble scoring. Some people just can't let either go.

Really? Have you been in a hole all of last season and just come out for air? He couldn't score, couldn't play defence, didn't play physical.....are these enough to tell you how Neal is bad?
It really won't matter if Neal scores 50 goals with the Oilers, he ain't gonna get the ice time here and pouted and wanted out. Why would a GM want to keep a player who doesn't want to here?
And Oilers is keeping part of Lucic's salary, so they are essentially paying Neal more than Lucic.

Losing Neal = Good
Adding Lucic = Bad
Is there really anything else to add here?

The adding Lucic part I'm totally alright with, I haven't minded him at all. It's the contract though

8-4-1 in their last 13 (107 pt pace)
5-2-1 in the last 8 (113 pt pace)
tied with ARI for best record in the division over the last 10 at 6-3-1

I think the Flames are just kicking it to that next gear. That old adage of you get a better sense of the team you have in the second set of 20 games. I think you will start seeing them separate from the Pacific pack if they can achieve any form of consistency.
