He interviewed here for the HC job I believe last season.

He also took over for a team in shambles not really fair.

Remember when Patrick Roy quit the Avs in August and Bednar took over and had some horrific seasons.

Will be Johnnys 9th coach in 11 season in the NHL.

Not really surprising; he was initially passed over Babcock, and Waddell probably wants his guy.

He was dropped into a bad situation but they really didn't show a lot of progress either and I don't think many of the young players flourished. Given how disastrous last season was I can see the organization maybe wanting to bring in a more accomplished head coach.

He was hired a few days before camp. Hard to really blame the coach who probably had no time to build out his camp his way.

Waddell was always going to get his own guy.

Well people in the organization had a year to assess his work while he was on the job. I'm sure if the player exit interviews went really well and there was a sense of progress that Waddell may have considered keeping him but clearly there wasn't enough there to stand in the way of him bringing in his own guy.

Or his wife, seems like she runs the drills at home already.

A lot of there weren't his fault, but I don't think he did anything to prove he should have another shot, either.

According to CP it is never the coaches fault.

This move is nothing more than Waddell making his mark on the front office....meaning he seems to have some real autonomy there.

He was a terrible coach. Any time I watched them play, it was like I was watching unstructured river hockey.

Some of it falls on the players, but I don't think they will miss him.

Very true. He would have had to win coach of the year to save his job. At least for next year, as we saw a similar scenario with Hartley here. In that same breath, he didn't make it a tough decision for Waddell either.

  9. ?

I chuckled

Yeah. Add some commentary and context.

It’s 2 franchises and starting with the Hartley (and GM BT) fiasco, it has quite honestly very little to do with the player
