Default Putting an "unread mail" folder on my email inbox

As the title states.....I had a folder on my inbox where all my unread mail would go, and as soon as I read the email it would transfer it to my inbox. Now it's gone.

Anyone know how I get it back? I've been messing with my email settings all day and can't figure it out???? It's annoying because I have over 4000 emails in my inbox (actual email, not spam), so for me to find one I haven't read from last month is next to impossible.

Are you using Outlook for an email client? If so, what version?

So you had a folder that held all your unread email, and then as soon as you read it, it automatically left that folder and went somewhere else.

I can tell you how to change where new email is delivered in O2K3, Tools, Email Accounts, Next, Deliver new email to following location...

I have never seen where it would automatically move email from that folder to somewhere else - a rule maybe but none I am familiar with.

As indicated, we would need to know what mail client you are using.

If it's Outlook 2002 or higher, expand the folder called "Search Folders"

One of the default subfolders in there is called "Unread Mail."

Outlook 2007 has a bar you can minimize called "Favorite Folders" that contains, by default, an "Unread Mail" folder. Maybe you minimized the Favorite Folders bar by accident?

Here's what it should look like. It's in the top-left corner of Outlook, directly below the File menu and "New" button.

Ken rocks. Thanks for that. I recently changed companies and need to use Lookout instead Tbird and had no idea how to accomplish this. Amazing how a google search didn't come up with this.

All hail the power of CP.
