Default Xbox 360 Question

Thinking about buying an xbox360.

I'll play some games here and there - but I'll probably mostly use it for streaming video/music from my PC.

The way I do this now is with a modded original xbox and XBMC.

Does anyone have any experience on how the two differ? Is it as easy as XBMC? Or do I have to sync it all with WMP etc.

Thanks

Not really directly answering your question, but I use this to stream from my NAS to my xbox so my computer doesn't even need to be turned on:

If you talking about video that is downloaded, then you can set it all up through windows media center.. The xbox 360 is capable of playing divx, avi movies from your computer these days, and for downloaded movies that avi, you don't need to run windows media center, just need the update for the xbox and it comes up in the dashboard under videos.. Music can also be played over the xbox.

Also if you have cable hooked up to your computer, you can use your xbox to watch live tv. You can pause and rewind the live tv through the xbox, kind of like a tivo... ALso with cable hooked up to your computer, with windows media center you can set it to record whatever you want then watch it on your tv through your xbox.

Windows media centre?

What's that?

What I didn't want to have to do is use WMP (or any other product) on my PC and have it all set up in a library. With XBMX I browse my computers HDD much like windows explorer and just open any file I want to play and play it. Making libraries pisses me off.

Windows media centre is used more for TV. Watching live tv over the xbox..
It actually sets up the library automatically. It just browses for video files.

I just have one folder where I put my movies so that its easier for me to browse through them. There was a program that kind of worked the you're talking about, but i did not like it. It was a pain to fast forward and rewind etc...

For the thing I mentioned you just tell it what folders to monitor for what types of media and thats it. It automatically updates and you browse by folder.
