The reviews I read of it just talk about how needlessly complex and opaque the combat and upgrade systems are. But I guess that is part of what defines the 'J', I just don't have time to deal with that kind of nonsense anymore.

Can two players play Super Mario Odyssey (at the same time of course)? My wife enjoys playing with me when we are both playing together at the same time, but doesn't really enjoy just passing back and forth turns for a one player game. Might make or break our decision on buying the Switch for Christmas.

I haven't tried Odyssey with two players yet, but if you do end up getting a switch, I highly recommend Mario Kart. That's got great two player support, including the ability to each play as your own online profile (thus improving your ranking by earning points). And the traditional, offline 2 (or 4) player modes.
My wife loves playing online, so we'll often have a few races together after the kid is in bed.
Pretty easy, actually. You can either create a room and have friends join for private races, or select the friend from a list to join their current public online group (or spectate until a spot becomes available).
I haven't played around with it because I don't have any real-life Switch friends yet (sad trombone), but the options are there. They also have some other modes for local wireless play, but I won't be able to test that until my nieces get their Switch at Christmas!

I've played 2 players and it's a lot of fun. Cappy can fly around and collect things and help mario reach places. Plus he can ground pound and attack enemies. It's fun but is a bit different than other traditional 2 player games. My son and I played the whole game like this and just switched controls back and forth every now and then.

Would also be nice if you could use the tv for player 1 and the handheld for player 2 so you don’t have to have a split screen on the tv.
Now that I think about it, it’d be nice to use one switch on two different tv’s. Player one on the bedroom tv and player two on the living room tv.
Question aqbout the Zelda DLCs - do these provide a complete different game mode, or do they add/change things to the current mode?
I have defeated Ganon, but I have been going back and finishing off some side and shrine quests just for fun. Will the DLCs throw a bunch of new stuff into my current game? Not that it really matters, I guess, because I have finished the main quests. Just curious how it works.
Speaking of Zelda, did any of you fellow nerds go to the Zelda symphony at the Jubilee on Saturday? It was my first time going, mainly because my son is crazy about music AND Zelda. It blew his mind, and we all enjoyed ourselves. He even dressed up in his Link Halloween costume.

Which ones do you recommend? I'm getting one for christmas and have Zelda, Splatoon and Mario. Snipperclips looks cool so I'll probably pick that one up at some point.
