It's nice to have a wealth of prospects to follow this season. Last year was quite light.

The Edmonton website has highlights for those who are interested. Klimchuk is 18 in white:

It was light in comparison, but last season seemed like we were following so many decent prospects.

Little did we know we'd be following even more prospects of higher quality this season.

Thanks for the link. A couple of nice plays by Klimchuk - good stretch pass on the first assist and nice, quick finishes on both goals.

Poirier with a goal early in the 1st.

EDIT: ...and adds an assist. Now he has 6 points in 2 games and less than a period.

Poirier sitting at a ridiculous 60% shooting percentage right now... will have to see what happens later in the season, but promising start for him.

Culkin has two assists after two periods vs Chicoutimi. Very good start to the season for him, at least 1+3 in his first 2 games

Don't know how reliable he is but some interesting tweets from Scott Wheeler at the Gatineau game:

Scott Wheeler ‏@scottcwheeler 2h Takes Poirier (CGY) 3 minutes to score. He was taken the pick after Gauthier.

Scott Wheeler ‏@scottcwheeler 2h Poirier is controlling play, Gauthier is blocking shots. Sounds about right.

Scott Wheeler ‏@scottcwheeler 2h
Poirier with another point, this time feeding it through Gauthier's legs for his second point.

Scott Wheeler ‏@scottcwheeler 1h
Poirier blocks a shot, labours off the ice and takes a jack on his way out. Seems hurt but heads to the box.

Scott Wheeler ‏@scottcwheeler 1h
Poirier is an extremely smooth skater, far and away the best skater on the ice.

Scott Wheeler ‏@scottcwheeler 12m
Gatineau puts on a ton of pressure but can't tie it. A minute left, Poirier loses his cool but takes a man with him.

According to the QMJHL website Poirier had 4 of the 10 quality scoring chances for Gatineau

Eric Roy with a goal and two primary assists in a 8-6 loss tonight against Prince Albert.

That gives him one goal, six assists, seven points and a +4 rating through three games this season. He is tied for the league lead in scoring amongst defensemen.

Was at this game, Klimchuk is definitely the most noticeable player on a pretty bad Pats team this year.

His defensive zone could use a little work though, the 3rd Rebels goal could have been avoided by Klimchuk directly with a little backcheck hussle

Anyone else notice our prospects tend to have a wonderful start to the season then Peter out as the season progresses? Time to buck the trend, I say.

The prospect camp gives them an edge on other players who haven't played all year. I'd say that's consistent for all clubs' prospects

If he can keep it up he will be one of the steals of the draft. This was a guy projected to go in the first. But a crappy season derailed that.

If he can start where he left off prior to last season he will elevate himself as one of our better prospects.
