I remember Schremp being hyped past the point of parody... the 700g - 1300p predictions were made with straight faces. The Edmonton media built up so many of these kids (Mike Comrie also comes to mind) with such high expectations (to hold aloft the so-called Oilers Legacy torch) that it was inevitable they couldn't.
Sure, Schremp's ego didn't help, but the crash was inevitable.
Remember when Cogliano and Gagner scored a bunch as rookies, or the Robert Nilsson hype?

Yeah, they hyped him up so high they had to trash him non-stop in order to save face after he didn't pan out.
Literally a bunch of clowns.

It's comical. The common takeaway from that game is that the Oilers played neck-and-neck with an elite team that already loaded up for the playoffs, and now all Holland has to do is make a trade and put the team over the top. One fan even commented that they are less scared of seeing Boston in the finals after this game. Something in the water indeed.

There was nothing in it for Boston tonight, and they coasted to an easy road win. Holding the 1 goal lead for the entire period was fun for them and, if anything, a flex on the coilers who need to win track meets to get Ws
