there was some reporting earlier on possible tumult in the Canes front office; seems like Dundon has taken a step to rectify this

The fleece master. Calgary will be kicking themselves for years.
Not sure if this is piling on Scorp (in your sig), but if you're referencing the Hamilton/Ferland - Hanifin/Lindholm, I would put the Flames ahead on that trade then and still today.
Anyone know what kind of compensation Waddell is getting? Curious because Dundon has spouted off a few times that he isn't going to pay his GM like other teams do.

Well I think Dundon just got handed a napkin with a number on it that the wild were willing to give Waddell to walk out on the Canes franchise by Friday, so the compensation is probably substantial.

To the bolded -- you were one of the minority. The vast majority -- myself obviously included -- didn't like the trade much when it was first announced. Glad to be wrong about it!

I think a lot of fans had a knee jerk reaction to Hamilton being shipped out. Ever since the locker clean out day that he didn't attend (or maybe didn't speak to the media, can't recall now) I seriously question his dedication to the Flames. Others tried to say I was reading to much into it, or that it didn't mean anything but I thought it showed his true colours.
Really I was more annoyed with "I'm too good to sign with you" Adam Fox forcing the Flames hand on dealing him.
I remember the reaction to the Lindholm/Hanifin trade as being pretty split down the middle on here, and that the reaction turned positive when we locked both up long term at under 5mil each

Exactly. I don't understand how anyone can look at Hanifin's contract and say he is overpaid (or needs to be moved to clear salary). It reminds me of the Brodie contract upon signing. How it was perceived to be a good value contract just one year after. Good players will always eat up part of the cap. Hanifin is so young, that he can easily blossom into a solid Top 2/3 d-man.
