Racism is racism, no doubt. Yelling at a player may or may not be abusive, it all depends on how it is done. It is becoming less and less effective with each generation though.

I wonder if part of the crackdown is also focusing on coaches who have not shown any capacity for change. Mike Keenan talked openly about how he needed to change his tactics when he returned to the NHL with Calgary—maybe for the likes of Crawford, Peters and Babcock the reputation is so deeply entrenched that the allegations from years past retain their currency.

It’s one thing to yell. It’s another to get really personal, which seems to have happened. It’s still another to start hitting and kicking. I think the latter is just weird, myself. These are 200+ pound guys. They are going to resent it. They are going to react badly. But they aren’t going to be scared of it.

I doubt that. It is 100% based on current employment.
The first guys to get it will be the ones who are still employed. Than it will move to guys like Daryl Sutter who might have landed another job, than it will be the Keenan types who are out of the game but still alive.

This isn't a guy like Torts or Laviolette getting upset and tapping a guy in the head. This is Crawford. The guy that has grabbed players' necks, kicked, slapped and thrown stuff at players. We're talking about the guy that told Bertuzzi to jump Moore and said "He must pay the price"
#### Marc Crawford. It's embarrassing he ever returned to the NHL. He should have been pushed out like Keenan was 10 years ago. The Senators and Blackhawks should feel bad for letting this POS back into the league.
This isn't a guy like Peters whose antics weren't public knowledge until recently. Crawford has been a known hunk of garbage for a long long time.

I don’t know how many of you knew, but Marc Crawford continued to hold a weekly radio spot on TSN 1040 for years after he coached in Vancouver. Even while he was coaching recently in Ottawa Jake Edwards had him on his Saturday show every week.
