Like many on this thread that have chimed in we've seen the folks come and go through the years, some are an instant hit like Boomer was or Ryan Leslie when he was in the PM, some you can get on board with after awhile like a Dave Rowe back in the day or Ryan Pinder now and some you can handle as you can see the potential of them growing on you Rob Kerr when he came on back in the day or even Logan or Matt Rose now.....but there is just something about Nault personally I just haven't been able to enjoy. At first I thought it was his voice, but then I thought it can't be that and I can't be that petty, but all these years later the conclusion I have come to (and it hit me this morning when him and Logan were talking about the San Jose Sharks), he often disagrees with his hosts which is a part of talk radio I get it but with Nault it's the fact that he cuts his co-hosts off to get his point in and it seems like he assumes his point is always right. There is no flow when he is on, he wants to talk, he wants his points heard and I think a lot of the times he feels his point is the right one, seems like a bit of a whiner.

This is a private radio station owned by a conglomerate: the only consideration they have is whether they'll make money off of it. If they thought Raptors coverage would make them money they'd do it, but someone has done the analysis and decided it wouldn't, so they don't talk about the Raptors.

The only Calgary radio stations that don't evaluate things by the metric of "will we make money from this?" are CJWE (aboriginal), CJSW (UofC campus radio), CKUA (UofA campus radio), and the CBC of course. That's the CBC's entire mandate: "cover the stuff that private enterprise won't, because there's no money in it," and they get crapped on for it all the time.

Aside from live play-by-play, or the occasional big event like Iggy's trade press conference, sports radio isn't really my cup of tea. But I still lament the loss of local programming and on-air talent.

Unfortunately I think 960 will become more like Sportsnet (and media in general) on the TV side of things. More national content, less local content, and syndicated American shows as filler. Kind of like now, I guess, but more so. And the live PBP during the season for as long as they have the rights.

I would be far more likely to listen to a regular, concise, and professional Flames podcast (and their sponsors) than the more drawn out sports radio format. I acknowledge that's part of the whole problem, but maybe also an opportunity for a radio guy like Boomer who was pushed/jumped from the sinking ship.

So I had the fan on today while I was puttering in my garage….

. Initially Jim Rome was on and I decided that guy is an @$$hat. He went on some rant about Joel embiid (bballer) that lasted for what seemed like an enternity. Then he started talking about the smack off and where he would play clips of callers and I am assuming he did not like the calls as he would make a loud “baa” horn sound

. They then picked up a feed of the baseball show from the fan in TO. I felt like I was listening to a math call in show as I heard a guys name then some stats. I swear baseball was made for actuaries, mathematicians and stats nerds

. The fan also ran several ads for the Eric Francis show mondays at noon - which is fine, except it was Monday and it was 12.15, then 12.30, then again at at 12.45

It will be interesting to see if they do have a divorce with the flames as they continued to run ads for the flames play here and home of the flames regularly

I'm not criticizing them per se. They have time to fill and what else would they talk about Flames related? I'm just saying that there wouldn't be any real meaningful stuff discussed during this period as was suggested.
