I’ve followed it in passing. I’ve concluded both of these people are terrible, not-well people. Neither seems to deserve anything from the other.
I think Depp comes out looking better so far, but they’ve done a decent job displaying that his career was hitting the skids before any of this, and so I don’t think he’ll win the defamation case personally.
What's interesting is what the lawsuit has honed in on. It's restricted to a single article. However it's possible any evidence of abuse on Johnny's part might win the lawsuit, despite what amber has been done to him.

I don't think it matters if he wins or loses the case because he's already won in the court of public opinion and that will ultimately lead to him working again in the future.
Depp's been having a ball with Heard's lawyer possessing the surname "Rottenborn".
He addresses him by his full name as frequently as possible.
How does one decide to become a lawyer and not change his last name from Rottenborn? I mean, seriously.

I've followed a bit of it. I do feel sorry for the lawyer, he was given a, let's call it one sided, view of events. He's being bombarded with new conflicting evidence at trial.
That's the point of being a lawyer though. You don't just accept what your client tells you at face value. You do your due diligence and legal discovery to ensure you are providing as much protection to your client as possible, even if they are feeding you incomplete information.
Apparently there's a rift between Amber and her lawyers. When her legal team rest arguments and she was instructed by the judge to return to her seat beside her lawyers, she instead stormed out of the courthouse and left.
“I was alone in my bedroom watching “Pirates of the Caribbean” when the door opened suddenly and Jack Sparrow himself walked right in. I literally shat my bed!”

The Following User Says Thank You to CaptainYooh For This Useful Post:
I ended up listening to a lot of the trial, it was a goldmine of comedy: ambers parade of insane and incompetent expert witnesses, ambers desperate attempts to get the public on her side, fake evidence, johnny cranking his charisma to 1000%, johnnys eclectic friends, amber and her team cracking under overwhelming public spite. Every time I decided to stop paying attention, a new clip would pop up that I had to see. Usually these kinds of things are really murky from a moral perspective, but Amber revealing herself as a villian of cartoonish proportions made it great entertainment.
The decision of the jury is irrelevant at this point, Amber has no friends and is a Hollywood exile, Johnny has renewed the public's love of him and is playing guitar solos at the Royal Albert Hall to thunderous applause.
I haven't been following, but I find it interesting how it has been reported. Social media posts are all about making fun of Amber 'Turd' and her lawyers, while CBC has posted the odd story highlighting her abuse claims.
